What we do to help others

• Volunteer members who:– Provide RLSS training for lifeguarding– Protect Southsea beaches – Provide first aid to the general public– Provide an inshore rescue service– Promote water safety to the local community– Provide a declared facility to HM Coastguard – Provide safety cover and support for public events

New Headquarters

Current Headquarters• Moved 1986, making way for

new Pyramids complex • Conversion from deckchair

storage building• Conversion a compromise due

to:– planning restrictions at the

time– existing structure.

• Anticipated life span 10~15 years– well past replace by date.

What would a new headquarters do

• New rescue headquarters in the heart of the Southsea seafront redevelopment area.

• Teaching facilities• Extended season opening times• Focal point for all water safety/water

based activity for the Southsea community.

• Centralisation of equipment reducing launch and response time

• A community centre for local groups, youth clubs and schools.
