    Attitude can be your best friend or your worstenemy.

    Attitude is the one factor that is universallyacknowledged to be capable of overcoming everypossible disadvantage.

    Attitude is associated with physical, neural, verbal

    opinion, ideologies and integrated philosophy of life .

    Attitude is the detailed direction of the humanbehaviour. It is a stage of sensitiveness and

    process to act.

    What is Attitude?

    Attitude is a mental and neural stageof readiness organized through

    experience exerting a dynamic influenceupon the individuals response to allsituations and objects with which he is

    related.Attitude is a complex mental state

    involving beliefs, feelings, values and

    dispositions to act in certain ways.

    Attitudes develop on the ABCmodel( affect, behavioural change

    and cognition ).The affective response is a psychological response thatexpresses an individuals preferences for an entity. The behavioural intention is a verbal indication of theintention of an individual.The cognitive response is a cognitive evaluation of theentity to form an attitude. Most attitudes in individuals area result of observational learning from their environment.

    In a nutshell, attitudes are tendencies to feel and behavein a particular way towards some objects, persons orevents.

    Attitude goes wherever you go!!!!!!!!!

    Features of Attitudes

    Multiplexity- influence of a number of elementsex. family, society, environment etc.Relation to needs-attitudes vary in relation tothe need they serve ex. sports, music, danceetc.Valence refers to the magnitude. (favourable / unfavourable or showing indifferent attitude)Related to feelings & beliefsAttitudes affect behaviour either positively ornegatively because attitude s affect onesperceptions.Attitudes undergo changes as one is exposedto different situations/people.

    Formation of Attitudes

    Individuals are not born with certain attitudes.They are not inherent. They are acquired andlearned by individuals.Factors responsible for formation of attitudes:Psychological factors i.e. ideas, values, beliefs,perceptions etc.Family plays a significant role.Society.Political factors.Economic factors.Attitudes can be changed throughpersuasion!!!!!

    Formation and change of attitudes are not two separatethings but they are intertwined.

    Changing attitudes is a long term process. Change of

    Negative Attitudes are generally formed out ofconstant frustration.

    Five types of negative thinking:

    Magnifying Destructive labelling Imperative thinking (think of inflexible

    rules about how you and others shouldact-usually based on negative pastexperience.

    The other department should have taken careof it. It wont work. I was not informed.

    You didnt consult me. I have no incentives. I dont get any respect. My pay scale is less. Those other employees

    make huge money. But I have degree/diploma. My services are not recognized.
