HERDWe are one HERD. We will be looking for examples of “HERD”
behavior. The next few slides will give you an idea of what we’re looking for!
HONESTExamples of students being honest are:
Turning in lost items to the office
Taking responsibility for their actions, good or bad
Being truthful with adults and peers in a given situation
Asking for help when they don’t understand
ENCOURAGINGExamples of students being encouraging:
Helping another student when they don’t understand an assignment
Supporting their peers in and outside of the classroom
Complimenting teachers and peers when they do something well
RESPECTFULExamples of students being respectful:
Being polite
Being on time to class
Following classroom and campus rules and procedures
DRIVENExamples of students who are driven:
Setting short and long term goals
Being informed when it comes to grades and upcoming assignments
Not procrastinating (Tardies)
Persevering when things get difficult
PBSThe goal of Positive Behavior Support is
to:
o Foster a positive environment
o Minimize lost instructional time
o Minimize behavioral incidents
“REWARD” SYSTEM
HERD BUCKS
o Students will earn bucks daily. o Each teacher may issue one buck per day per student.
o Teacher Initials are required on each BUCK given as validity.
PROCEDURES
◦HERD Bucks will be issued and initialed by teachers.
◦HERD Bucks are to be carried by students in their binder or folder.
◦ If Bucks are lost or misplaced, the student may not be issued replacements Students cannot ask for a BUCK.
◦When a student earns enough BUCKS to purchase an incentive, they may do so DURING LUNCH.
Possible Purchased Items include:
1. Homework pass
2. School Store Items
3. Go to front of lunch line
4. $ gift card to school concession stand at sporting event or dance
5. Raffle items
6. Admission to specified events
