CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference is all about the positive impact made by our powerful cause. Our common vision to be the best financial partner for Americans leads credit unions forward. Our common commitment to member service and helping people is embodied by all of you. The GAC brings us together in our nation’s capital to achieve our advocacy goals on behalf of the 95 million American credit union members — telling their stories, championing their cause, serving their needs.

In January, the 113th Congress will be sworn in and credit unions will have a whole new group of legislators and policymakers to influence. We must

be the voice of credit unions and credit union members. We must educate, demonstrate our grassroots strength, advocate for proactive policy change and make a powerful impact for the credit union movement. The GAC, an event unlike any other in the credit union movement, is our strongest opportunity to do so in Washington, D.C.

This February’s conference will focus on Washington’s new landscape and what we must do to achieve our legislative and regulatory goals. We will hear directly from a caliber of influential policy makers that only the GAC can bring together at one conference. We will deliver the credit union message and tell our story during the Capitol Hill visits that are the essence of the GAC.

Credit union leaders from around the country will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with their Members of Congress and discuss how to create positive change for our members. I have seen firsthand the impact your conversations have on lawmakers. Core to our political strategy, the GAC demonstrates the power of our cause. Of course, stronger levels of participation make this event even more impactful — powerful cause, positive effect.

We have a full political agenda this year and need the support of every credit union leader in the movement to accomplish our goals. Join us in Washington, D.C., this February at the GAC. With your involvement we can ensure a future in which policymakers have a deep understanding of the credit union difference and in which credit unions can fully realize the value of that difference.

Political impact, high-value sessions & industry insights

CUNA’s GAC is the only event that gives credit union leaders access to keynoters like Tom Brokaw and Jean Chatzky, and to highly influential government leaders. A rich offering of breakout sessions provides in-depth updates and more intimate Q&A on credit unions’ most critical issues. You will gain new insights on the approach to legislative and regulatory advocacy, and political involvement — always a critical element of the GAC program.

Visits to Capitol Hill are strategized in conjunction with your league to effectively deliver our credit union message. Lawmakers will listen to the voices of thousands of credit union leaders standing up for 95 million Americans’ financial freedom.

As the largest credit union event, CUNA’s GAC brings together our movement’s leaders for incredible networking.

At breakfast or after a breakout, on a tour of the exhibit hall or the walk to the Hill, you will connect with new

colleagues and renew old friendships.

The GAC exhibit hall is the largest in the financial services industry. Attendees can visit more than

225 exhibitor booths to learn about the latest resources and products of interest to the credit

union movement.
