INTRODUCTION

The faculty believe that nursing is an integral part of the health care delivery system and share responsibility by working in collaboration with other allied professions for the attainment of optimal health for all members of society. It considers all aspects of patient-centered care achieved by multi-disciplined approach.Today Indian Nursing Council is a statutory body that regulates nursing education in the country through prescription, inspection, examination, certification and maintaining its stand for uniform syllabus at each level of nursing education.

HISTORY OF POST BASIC B.Sc.(N)

The need for higher training for certificate nurses was stressed by Mudaliar Committee in 1962. Two years post basic certificate B.Sc.(N) programe was started in December 1962, for nurses with diploma in general and midwifery with minimum of 2 years experience. First started by university of Trivandrum. At present there are many colleges in India offering post basic B.Sc.(N) course.
