From the Auxiliary President
Hello Auxiliary Members: Auxiliary members there are a few things I would like to inform you about: 1
st- I would like to thank all who have sent in money for
the Bakeless Bake Sale; your generosity is greatly appre-ciated. As I stated before, this money goes into a fund to help our Veterans and without your help our programs would be limited. So THANK YOU again! 2
nd- If you as an Auxiliary member should get the horrible
disease called cancer, please call me at (402) 553-7562) or call the treasurer at (402) 676-4523. If you are hospital-ized (DOES NOT INCLUDE OUTPATIENT), the Auxiliary has a fund that pays $35 per day you are in the hospital. National also has what is called a Cancer Grant that you can apply for. This is for a member in good standing, meaning your dues are current and you have been a member for 1 year. As a member of the Auxiliary you can apply for 2 grants, but they cannot be for same claim and have to be a year apart. 3
rd- For deceased Auxiliary members (again a member in
good standing) the Auxiliary offers a Memorial service at no charge. A family member needs to contact the Presi-dent Lynn Krause at (402) 553-7562.) But we need at least 2 days notice. I know you are tired of me repeating the same thing, but we still need a few more members to pay their dues. New members are $24.00 a year. Dues for members renewing their membership are $19.00 a year. Don’t forget to pay your dues. Life information cost is on bottom right corner of application. Loyally Submitted, Lynn Krause President 402-553-7562
TAILGATE AT THE POST SATURDAYS in OCTOBER
BRING A SNACK TO SHARE
NORTHWESTERN 10/5 MINNESOTA 10/12
INDIANA 10/26 PURDUE 11/2
From the Commander Greetings: First of all, I would like to thank the men and the woman who
gave up their Labor Day to cook hot dogs and to promote our
Post at Cabela’s Sporting Goods: Gary Krause, Al & Micky
Dorn, Larry Quilliam, and Ross Winn. You did a great job!
As most of you know, Linda Humphrey (Head Chef) has been
taking some time off to recoup. In her absence, the kitchen
cooks have been doing a fantastic job keeping the Hamburger
Nights going well and keeping the diners happy, A BIG THANKS
to all of you!
We have had a number of Post members in the hospital or have
passed. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts
and prayers.
We will have an Oktoberfest party Sunday, October 27th from 2
till 5 with a polka band, brats, and beer. Please plan to attend.
Your thoughts and ideas are very important to the Post. I would
like to see more members come to Post meetings and share
your ideas with the membership.
Also, if you know of anyone eligible to join the VFW, encourage
them to become a member.
The Post will be open Monday November 11th for Veterans Day
for our annual spaghetti dinner, and this year we will be having a
silent auction on some nice items thanks to Tom Penke. They
will be on display in the north room later this month.
RESPECT
Mike Rosso - Commander - VFW Post 2503
AUXILIARY MEMBERS! From the Auxiliary Treasurer, If you have moved in the past year, contact me to update your address at (402)676-4523). We have received several letters back that are undeliverable. We also need to update out records. Thank You, Sue Stark

CHAPLAIN’S MESSAGE:
A HUNTING WE WILL GO
A Boy Scout leader came to my home and
asked if I would join the BSA. No, Dad
said. He told me that he would teach me
all about the great outdoors. Dad was
once a farmer and later a cowboy. He
would teach me how to hunt and fish.
2 Peter 1:3-4: Jesus called us by His glo-
ry and goodness. Through these He gave
us the very great and precious promise.
How about this funny about the optimist
and the pessimist: The optimist and his
dog went duck hunting with his buddy,
the pessimist. When a duck was downed
at the far end of the lake, the dog would
fetch it. This dog could run on top of the
water. The optimist asked the pessimist
what he thought of that. The pessimist
said, Well, that dog can’t swim.
With much love,
Rev Rod—Go Big Red!
