Al Yamamah UNIVERSITY

Al Yamamah University (YU) was first authorized by the Ministry of Education in May 2001 when it was established as a single college, by the Alkhudair family. This marked their second major contribution to education in Saudi Arabia, having pioneered the establishment of the first private schools (Altarbiyah Alnamouthajiyah) in Riyadh in 1957.

The ultra-modern campus, located on the Riyadh-Qassim Highway north of Riyadh, occupies an area of 160,000 square meters and was designed in accordance with the latest standards for educational institutions. Since inception, the university has dedicated itself to recruiting experienced and proven faculty and staff members who have provided valuable leadership in the design and delivery of both degree and non-degree programs that focus on quality, integrity, fairness and progressive, yet practical, education.

In all of its activities, YU seeks to conform to the highest standards of educational quality assurance. Al Yamamah was authorized in September 2008 by the Ministry of Higher Education to operate as a private university (earlier authorized as Al Yamamah College) under the Private Universities Act.

Degrees awarded by Al Yamamah University are accredited by Saudi Ministry of Higher Education and recognized by public sector as well as private sector institutions.

To match the standards of professional national and international accreditation agencies, Alyammamah University is accredited by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment for the period May 1, 2015 to April 30, 2019 and agrees to uphold the NCAAA Standards for Quality Assurance and Accreditation for Higher Education Institutions/Programs.

The NCAAA is an independent body responsible to the Council of Higher Education for the accreditation of post-secondary education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

YU EMBA program in International Management and Leadership is offered in partnership with INSEEC University (France) and Washington State University (USA) where students graduate with three degrees;

· EMBA from Al Yamamah University

· MBA degree from INSEEC

· Graduate diploma degree from Washington State University.

The program was created for early and mid- career professionals who would like to build upon their undergraduate education and early work experiences by enhancing their knowledge of modern management theory and developing the skills needed to address the range of issues facing leaders and managers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and throughout the Middle East.

The YU EMBA is offered over a period of twenty (20) months, in a format suitable for busy executives. The curriculum consists of 42 credit hours: 30 credits accrued from the core courses and 8 credits from the free electives courses, and 4+ credits will be earned through the Individual Project - Business Plan/ Thesis. Students who complete one course each month can anticipate finishing their EMBA in twenty months.

Classes are typically held on YU’s campus in Riyadh during evenings or weekends to enable working professionals to pursue their educational goals while remaining on the job. Students meet for classes once per month in an intensive mode of either: six (6) hours per day for five (5) consecutive days = 30 hours OR five (5) hours per day on Thursdays and Fridays.

Al Yamamah University provides a conventional MBA program for recent graduates, individuals in the early stages of their professional careers, or students who prefer courses that are principally delivered over an entire semester instead of in the intensive format that typically characterizes the EMBA program

The key goal of the YU MBA program is to prepare students for success as management professionals in today’s technology- driven global business environment. It emphasizes the development of critical thinking and the effective integration of fundamental business knowledge and skills (theory and practice) while providing students with sophisticated tools and techniques for analysis and decision making. Throughout the program, students

will be challenged to approach business problems from a strategic perspective. Class assignments and exercises are designed to promote effective leadership traits, well-developed communication skills and collaborative team efforts

The program is delivered on a full-time basis, requiring from 18 to 24 months to completion. Most courses are conducted over the duration of an entire semester (During the weekdays, with only a limited number of intensive offerings (in average 3 Hours/3day a week ) . This allows students the opportunity to reflect upon new insights and gradually hone their practical skills in a manner that enhances both retention and further development.

• TOEFL score of 513 is a minimum requirement for a candidate to demonstrate his English proficiency for MBA and MHRM programs, whereas TOEFL 530 score is the minimum for EMBA.

• Candidates for admission to the YU Master programs must have completed a four-year undergraduate degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution, with a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0.

• Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in business administration may be admitted to the program with a deficient CGPA (as low as 2.5/4.0) provided that they achieved grades of 3.0/4.0 or above in their business coursework.

• Individuals who fall short of these requirements may be considered for provisional admission upon the basis of a particularly strong work record or the prior successful completion of a graduate degree program. These students will be required to register for a full load of foundation courses (12 credit hours) and to complete them with a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0 or they will be dismissed from the program.

• Applicants without undergraduate education in business administration or whose preparation was in a language other than English are required to register for foundation semester courses as a condition of admittance to the program.

• The admissions committee will decide which of the applicable courses—Principles of Management, Principles of Accounting, Principles of Finance, Principles of Marketing, Introduction to Economics, and Introduction to Statistics—will be required for each candidate, based upon transcript analysis as well as a consideration of any relevant professional training.

Candidate’s formal program application will be reviewed by the YU PGS Admissions Committee, who will consider the following:

• Adequate intellectual and analytic ability to ensure successful completion of YU Master’s program.

• Demonstrated leadership capacity.

• Ability to contribute to the learning of peers.

• The completion of the standard admission documents and requirements.

Application to Master’s programs involves a combination of off-line application and document preparation. Follow the steps described below to put together a complete application. Also you may contact YU Admission Office for further information and guidance. [email protected]

STEP 1 : Fill-in the application form. Available at pgs.yu.edu.sa

STEP 2: Submit/scan the following required documents:

• Duly accomplished/filled-up Application Form

• Original college certificate/diploma

• Original College transcript of records/student academic records

• English Proficiency Scores TOEFL, IELTS, STEP

• Two copies of national ID or Iqama

• C.V

• Four copies of ID pictures (4 x 6) / photo

• Two copies of Recommendation Letter

STEP 3: Take/submit the TOEFL, IELTS or STEP English language proficiency test.

STEP 4: The PGS Admissions Committee will review the application and supporting documents to determine an applicant’s suitability for the program.

STEP 5: After the initial review, the Committee will held a personal interview and then notify the candidates of their application status either:

• Directly accepted

• Conditionally accepted upon the receipt of missing documents, (and/or), upon improving English language ability (and/or), upon improving English language ability, (and/or), upon completion of Foundation Semester courses, (and/or), upon completion of additional work experience.

• Not Accepted for designated reasons.

STEP 6: After receiving your application result, you need to visit YU campus and pay the registration fees and receive your student ID card , schedule, YU email and other related procedures.

English Language Requirements

Tuition Fees and Financing

As English is the language of instruction in all our Masters Programs, applicants must provide evidence of having achieved a TOEFL score of 513 (or equivalent, i.e., IELTS 5.5.) within the previous two years for MBA and MHRM programs, the TOEFL score of 530 is required to apply for EMBA program. Students may be conditionally admitted with TOEFL 480, but will be required to achieve TOEFL 513 in order to be fully admitted. Applicants with TOEFL scores of less than 480 should undertake more intensive English language training such as that offered by YU or other educational institutions before they can proceed with credit-earning coursework within the program, although they can be admitted upon a conditional basis if they have met all other admission requirements.
