Figures from Spain’s Min-istry of Industry, Energy andTourism revealed that 6 mil-lion foreign tourists visitedthe country in June 2012 – a4.7% increase on the samemonth last year.

The findings also show thatthe Balearic islands were themost visited Spanish destina-tion by international tourists,with an increase of 5% to1.58m, thanks to tourists fromBritain and the Nordicnations.

Marc Pritchard, sales andmarketing manager of TaylorWimpey España, which hasdevelopments in Mallorca,says: “Despite Eurozone con-cerns, Spanish destinationsstill feature top on holiday-makers’ wish lists, thanks toeasy access to the rest ofEurope, superb weather andcheaper living costs.

“Although buyers areunderstandably a little wary,we’re encouraging house-hunters to strike while theiron is hot, particularly asSpain has approved a taxincrease which could see VATpayable on new property pur-

chases increasing from Janu-ary 1, 2013 from the current4% super reduced rate to 10%.Buying now would mean thatpurchasing a property for180,000 Euros outright before2013 could save you 10,800Euros alone in VAT.”

Further highlighting thepositive spirit of potentialSpanish property buyers,Taylor Wimpey España hasrevealed that total visits to itswebsite increased by 12.2%between May and June, com-pared to the same period last

year, with 67% of total webvisits deriving from the UKmarket.
