Begins pre-op

• Pelvic floor exercises

• Clear explanation of post op care– Drain removal– Planned discharge date– Catheter care– Analgesia– Contact number

Management of effects on head down position

• Sit up• Consider low dose diuretic

Analgesia

• Immediate post op– Bladder 40mls 0.25% marcaine for 30mins

(intravesical)– Wounds 20mls 0.5% marcaine– IV opiates (IV morphine prn)

• On discharge– Oral medication (paracetamol/codeine/NSAIDs)

First 24 hours

• Eat and drink• Drain out next morning

Following discharge

• Clips/sutures removed day 10• Catheter removed 10-14 days (no cystogram)
