Facebook Posting Tips

Your fans don’t come to buy your stuff (sorry it’s true!!), instead they’re there to hang out with friends and family

and be entertained. 80% value/20% promotion

Ask yourself before posting “Does this help our brands likeability?” and “Is this interesting, engaging, useful

content?”

The key to posting is…Post like a fan and not a marketer!

Create a social media content calendar 1 month in advance and pre-schedule your posts.

Limit hashtags! Too many lowers engagement.

Stay between 50 and 99 characters. It turns out, post length really does matter. The most

engaging length for a Facebook post is even less than the maximum 140 character count for a Tweet.

Posts with emoticons receive 33% more comments, and are also shared 33% more often — two of the major

contributors towards engagement.

Ask a question. Question posts get 100% more comments than non-question posts.

Post on a Saturday or Sunday.

Strike that critical balance of offering content that is relevant and adds value, with content that just plain

entertains. (why not relax on a Friday and post)

Visuals like quotes, images (behind-the-scenes and funny) and especially nostalgic photos work well.

• Be persistent with (and recycle) your content on Facebook because it may be the second or third posting that brings the win (just tweak wording and image )

• Proofread your posts

Avoid Time Decay – post at least once a day

Post directly to Facebook rather than using a social media management platform like Hootsuite. Facebook’s

algorithms favours content published this way.
