MetoKote Corporation hasannounced the addition of a newpowder coat system at its Peru,IL, facility. This new line wasinstalled to provide additionalproduct offerings to thosecustomers seeking bothelectrocoat and powder coat.Utilizing a Nordson ColorMaxQuick Change Powder CoatingSystem, the new line is located ina controlled room to ensure idealtemperatures for powderapplication, storage and to controlenvironmental contaminates. Theattached conveyor system isequipped with load bar tracking toprovide online work instructions toallow employees to instantly viewpart integrity and provide qualityalert notifications to help ensuresuperior part quality. In addition tothe new powder coat line and itsblack monorail electrocoatsystem, MetoKote-Peru alsooffers electrocoat in buff yellow.With one of the largest individualload bar capacities in theindustry, this line can handleparts up to 10,000 lbs.

PPG to invest $60 M inmanufacturing facility for itscoatings businesses in Lipetsk,Russia
PPG Industries recentlyannounced its plans to invest $60
M in a new manufacturing facilityand commercial operation for itscoatings businesses in theLipetsk region of Russia. Thecompany anticipates projectcompletion in 2H 2015. Thefacility is expected to employmore than 150 people andmanufacture a wide variety ofindustrial and performancecoatings. PPG currently hasoperations in Russia and issupplying customers across avariety of industries in thecountry. The new facility isexpected to facilitate PPG’sgrowth in the market and help thecompany directly meet growinglocal demand for its coatingsproducts. In addition to themanufacturing hub, the facility willinclude a new warehouse anddistribution center as well asadministrative offices andtechnical labs.

Dow to increase its polyol andcopolymer capacity at itsFreeport, TX facility
Dow Chemical Company willincrease its polyol and copolymercapacity at its Freeport, TX,facilities as a result ofdebottlenecking. The facilities willuse state-of-the art DMC catalyststo create polyol products withunique properties. The extracapacity will expand Dow’scapability to leverage low carbonethylene oxide costs in the USGulf Coast. It will also enableincreased output of base polyolsto be used in the expandedcopolymer polyols facility, as wellas extra volumes of flex slab andcoatings, adhesives, sealants andelastomers (CASE) polyols to theNAA markets.

Powder coating firm expands
Winona Powder Coating Inc hasopened its new $5 Mmanufacturing facility in EtnaGreen, IN, which is one of thefirst powder coating plants toopen in the State. The plant hasan area of 167,000 sq ft and apowder coating line withautomatic and manual coatingbooths, digitally controlled ovens,and a five-stage washer. Thefacility will create 25 additionaljobs.
