Eliminating the physical handling of tape and moving to an automated, over-the-network backup solution has immediate bene�t. The backup process is much faster, and thanks to inline deduplication & compression, signi�cantly reduces storage by 10-30 times on average.

Businesses can achieve their o�site backup requirement without the logistics and cost of tape exchange & storage. Instead, the IBM platform recognizes an o�site data repository at LightEdge as a Virtual Tape Library or traditional NAS. Backups are scheduled and run in incremental cycles based upon RTO/RPO. Modern practice and high-availability applications can even be backed up multiple times an hour, if necessary. Enhanced security is also included with Data Domain Encryption using RSA FIPS 140-2 validated encryption.

CONTINUITY REQUIRES INFRASTRUCTURE. LightEdge o�ers the opportunity to run live production, whenever needed, directly o� the EMC Data Domain backup copy jobs our customers maintain at LightEdge. While a business can selectively recover backup �les to bring back into their IBM environment, should their server or mainframe go down completely, on-site recovery is not an option.

At LightEdge, we will pre-con�gure an LPAR and reserve all the resources required to get a client back to a production state. The LightEdge Power Recovery Cloud includes 15 annual days of continuity testing for additional con�dence. In an emergency, this hosted LPAR & private resource pool will be activated upon declaration and presented to the client.

It also assures the fastest-possible return to your production state. Service-level and run-book options provide �exibility. Technical and consultative resources are committed as-per client requirements, �lling any execution gaps to ensure an e�cient recovery into a production-ready IBM platform within the LightEdge Data Center.

Managed Recovery services include client-speci�c declaration and RTO/RPO requirements, run-book and other custom elements. Each program will include up to 30 days of live production on a recovery platform equal to the primary environment being protected. After 30 days, normal cloud pricing goes into e�ect.

With duplicate systems running MIMIX® real-time replication, the physical architecture for failover is already in place. Inherently, your backup environment can become your primary production environment on demand. With quarterly testing, the advantages of always-on replication are obvious. Some clients will still want to have LightEdge provide assistance for running this environment in an emergency. Additionally, if the secondary backup becomes the primary production site, what kind of new backups are going to be in place while the original produc-tion environment is repaired?
