CUSTOM PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION MANUAL
Rhino Custom Pro Model
Before you start pedalling… KINEXTM custom performance cycling shoes have a unique and patented method of stabilizing the foot to offer superior power transfer. For many athletes, your feet and body will need to adapt to this new fit environment in order to get the maximum benefit. It is important that you take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with your new shoes and follow the step-by-step information in this pamphlet.
1- Verify Your Custom Fit
Your new custom performance cycling shoes were handcrafted to your unique foot shape prescription. They should fit snugly and comfortably right away with solid connection to the KINEXTM “Power Triangle”, the 3 main contact points on each foot.
Power Triangle
Initial Fitting: Using the micro-adjustable cable closure system, adjust the KOMPRESSOR power interface so that you feel balanced pressure spread across the 3 main locations of the Power Triangle. NOTES: Ideal tension is less than you think. If after several hours of use you are feeling some pressure points, consult the “Thermoforming” section.
2- Install Cleats
KINEXTM custom performance cycling shoes feature a universal 3-hole cleat interface. Consult your pedal/cleat owner's manual for proper installation.
3- Power & Comfort Adaptation
The KINEXTM Power Triangle references parts of the foot that are more passive in conventional shoes. To help you adapt to this new 3D power sensation, your custom performance shoes come with two densities of insoles - medium and firm. We recommend using the medium density for the first 8-10 hours of use. This will enable the anatomy of your feet to adapt to the sensations associated with KINEXTM power transfer. After this break-in period you can continue to use both sets of insoles as needed based on the following recommendations gathered from elite cyclists: FIRM Sprinting, Criterium, Time Trial, Short Triathlons, BMX, Mountain, Climbing MEDIUM Long distance Road & Triathlon rides Touring & Recovery rides Warning: Only use the insoles provided with your shoes. The KINEXTM Power Triangle uniquely stabilizes the arches of the foot in a quasi-permanent state of compression. Using conventional footbeds and/or custom orthotics can interfere with this benefit and my cause harm. If you have any questions or concerns consult our Customer Care expert.

4- Pro Tips for First Use
By improving power transfer in all phases of the pedal stroke, KINEXTM custom performance cycling shoes can provide benefits to cyclists of all ability levels including: • Peak force transfer and peak watts • Time to peak force and acceleration • Average watts • Muscle fatigue and lactic build up for the same
amount of effort/VO2 Here are some "pro tips" for the first time that you use them:
1. Do not over tighten; it’s less than you think! 2. Ideal tension is balanced pressure between the
top of your foot & heel. Play with this until you find your ideal sweet spot.
3. Do not use conventional footbeds or custom orthotics. These will interfere with KINEXTM fit benefits.
4. One-foot drills will emphasize the 3D aspect of KINEXTM fit. With one foot in KINEXTM and the other in conventional shoes try: o Going up a gentle incline o Alternating the 2 insoles in various
conditions to find your preference of power vs. comfort.
To to fully appreciate these benefits we recommend consulting a trained PowerWatts professional.
Thermoforming The materials on the lateral facing (outside) of KINEXTM custom shoes are comprised of Surlyn®.
This material will set to the shape of your foot over the first few uses to provide another level of reliable comfort and stability. If you feel pressure points on the outside of your foot after several hours of use, you can thermoform this area using a high powered blow dryer or low power heat gun as follows: With one hand inside the shoe touching the target surface, heat the area around the “KINEX” word mark for 20 seconds from a distance of at least 8 inches. When the inside surface begins to feel warm, place your foot in the shoe & secure the KOMPRESSOR closure system with light tension. Allow the shoe to cool before removing and repeat for other foot if needed. Very high temperatures will void your warranty and may damage your shoe. Do not place your feet in the very hot shoes or you may burn your feet.
