• Write intensive workloads can “wear out” the drive -- watch your fuel gauge to monitor usage
• Approximately 3,394 TB of data can be written to drive, but may be somewhat larger
• Drive Write Per Day (DWPD) rating of “1” ~ 4.8 years
• Use RI SSD when you are confident your write workload is reasonable

Note these are single drive specific measurements on a Power System reflecting sustained drive workloads (not burst). The values assume 4224 or 528 byte sectors running RAID-0 with no protection. The values are highly workload dependent. Factors such as read/write mix, random/non-random data mix (spatial location), drive cache hits/misses, large/small number of blocks per operation, type of RAID or mirroring protection, queue depth, etc, will change these values. The choice of which SAS controller/adapter is running the drive in PCIe1/PCIe2/PCIe3 slot can also impact these values.. These values produced by a servers with plenty of processor, memory and controller resources to push this much I/O into the SSD. Most client system applications don’t push SSD nearly this hard. Latency measurements using OLTP1 60/40 random 4k transfers.

IBM i Authority Collection
For the USER
– What is the minimum authority required on the objects it uses for the application to work correctly?
– Does User ‘Kurt’ really need to have *ALLOBJ to run an application?
– What object authority should the HR department have for these 15 objects to get their job done?
For the OBJECT
– All my objects have PUBLIC *ALL authority! Is it needed?
– We have little detailed knowledge of the applications… where is the data?
– Yes, the data is in DB2 and/or IFS …
but where?
– What is the “minimum” authority level that can be granted for the end user?

ILMT – the Letter

capacity) Licensing: http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/subcaplicensing.html
Eksempelvis gælder der to

What is Sub-capacity or virtualization Licensing
57
ILMT Discoveries
– the tool is not required when:
• IBM License Metric Tool does not support the customer's eligible virtualization
technology.
• The customer's worldwide enterprise has fewer than 1,000 employees and
contractors
• The customer's total physical capacity of their servers with Sub- capacity licensing
within their worldwide enterprise is less than 1,000 Processor Value Units (PVU)
• The customer's servers, with PVU-based products that are eligible for Sub-capacity
licensing, are licensed to the full capacity of the servers.
