WHAT NOT, WHY NOT
EFFECTIVE USE
Know your message and how best to communicate it.
PowerPoint is a great tool for helping you communicate your message.
DEVELOPING
Slides for the presentation’s introduction and conclusion.
Headings specific and meaningful. Font: at least 30 points Avoid subtle color variations. Less is more. Bullet points to remind you what to talk
about, not tell the whole story. Avoid unnecessary text or words. 10/20/30
DELIVERING
Set up and overview of slides. Pause between slides. Look at the slide, look at your audience. Avoid pointers—especially laser pointers—
should be avoided. Use animation for bullet points Keep your explanations short and relevant. Use voice/body for emphasis
TYPES OF AUDIENCES
Live Simple Pictures Couple of words
Passive More developed Include explanations Pictures with text
BOTTOM LINE
Use visual aids to back you up during the presentation.
Their job is not to be the presentation.
