Why I chose this subject?
I began working on this topic because I was interested indiscovering different conceptions of thinking concerning
peoples way of life in the nineteenth century.
Reading Margaret Mitchells novel, Gone With the Wind, Idiscovered a world dominated by strong values, a world which
glorifies the independence of a nation.
In the next chapters I want to show some aspects that reallymatter to people who face up with social inequalities.

of Gone With the Wind from the perspective of
the daughter of Mammy and Gerald OHara
The Wind Done Gone recounts many events in
Gone With the Wind, but from a different point

The book, in fact, ends with a weary but optimistic plan
for the future: Scarlett has lost Rhett, who she now
knows is her only love: With the spirit of her people
who would not know defeat, even when it stared them in
the face, she raised her chin. She could get Rhett back.
She knew she could. There had never been a man she
couldnt get, once she set her mind upon him,but she
has the strength and faith in the future to enable her tosay: Ill think of it all tomorrow, at Tara. I can stand it
then. Tomorrow, Ill think of some way to get him back.
After all, tomorrow is another day.

In her novel, Margaret Mitchell managed to create a
world seen by different points of view. She showed that
a culture can be transformed and people can suffer the
consequences. Mitchell also emphasized the womens
role in a society dominated by men.
In my opinion, Mitchells novel is a huge step towards
societys emancipation being at the same time a symbol
of womens fight to find their place in a world
dominated by strong values concerning their role insociety.
