Access to Health Insurance and Care

Massachusetts Health Connector-certified Navigators assist with applying for health insurance, shopping for plans, and renewing Health Connector and

MassHealth insurances.

Access to Health Insurance and Care

Navigators do extensive outreach to educate the public on Massachusetts Health Connector and MassHealth opportunities for health insurance. Staff is bilingual and provides services in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

• In FY18, CCN staff issued 2,878 vouchers, ensuring consistent, quality care for 1,700 children including School Age children transitioning from After School to camp programs during the year.

• At the same time, CCN reimbursed $10,489,195.71 to more than 100 family child care homes, day care centers, public schools, and summer camps that accepted children with vouchers into their programs.

Child Care Network manages the state early education subsidies for Cape Cod, the Islands, and 14 communities along the South Coast. Subsidy management includes assessing a family’s eligibility for a child care voucher, regularly confirming their continued eligibility, and reimbursing the program that their child attends.

• Almost 1,000 families received free or reduced cost vouchers through CCN enabling their children to attend early education programs in FY18.

• 86 early education professionals completed courses offered by CCN in FY18!

The CACCI Immigration Resource Center provides completely free and confidential immigration legal services to immigrants and their families on Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Since the IRC opened in 2016 it has served more than 2,000 individuals from 81 countries! In FY18, the IRC represented 858 clients in a wide variety of immigration cases. Qualified immigration law volunteers manage the IRC out-posting office in Falmouth. They contributed more than 400 hours in 2018 alone, providing outstanding service to more than 80 customers!

Free U.S. citizenship-test preparation classes are taught by volunteer educators, using a curriculum developed by IRC volunteers. The classes served 30 people in 2018. Since the IRC opened in 2016, our classes have a 100 percent pass rate on the U.S. citizenship test! Thank you, IRC volunteers, for your expertise and dedication!

The CACCI VITA program provides free assistance by IRS certified tax preparers!

In FY18, 363 individuals received assistance in submitting their federal and state income tax forms!

• 42% received Earned Income, Child Care,

and/or Education tax credits!

CACCI provides application assistance for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. This service is offered at CACCI’s Hyannis office, and on Martha’s Vineyard through our partnership with Dukes County Social Services.

In FY18, staff worked with 251 individuals applying for SNAP benefits. All received referrals

to local resources for food and free meals!

Holiday Programs

A million thanks to our generous supporters and the more than 30 volunteers who made our

In 2018, 200 Cape Cod families were provided with turkeys and “all the fixin’s” at Thanksgiving!

new record for teen participants!

• Safe Harbor is a secure emergency family shelter for women and their children who are homeless due to domestic violence.

• Space is available for up to 20 families, residing in separate efficiency units

• Safe Harbor is professionally staffed 24-7.

Our volunteers and donors generously give their time and resources to improve quality of life for every family in residence at Safe Harbor. Thank you!

Some of the services available to our residents:

In FY18 we sheltered 51 families, which included 85 children. In FY18, 24 families found affordable housing. In FY18, 41 families received stabilization services to help them remain in independent housing for one year after leaving Safe Harbor. • 90 percent of these families succeeded!

In FY 2018, CACCI served 9,383 individuals from 4,330 families! A 25% increase this year!
