– UK residents: A nationally representative sample of the UK population aged 16+
– Scotland residents: A nationally representative sample of the Scotland population aged 16+
– Scotland Summer Intenders: Members of the public who state their next Scotland holiday or short break will
be between July and September this year. For demographic questions ‘Scotland summer intenders’ includes
anyone who is considering a trip in Scotland. For behaviour questions relating to a specific trip (e.g. type of
accommodation), ‘Scotland summer intenders’ only includes people who are just considering Scotland, and no
other destinations. This is to ensure that we are certain behaviour relates the trip in Scotland and not anywhere
else. As a result, the base size of ‘Scotland summer intenders’ may change.
– Scotland Winter Intenders: Members of the public who state their next Scotland holiday or short break will be
from October 2020 to March 2021.
– Mid May to Mid June research: Throughout the report, comparisons are made to the reporting that reflected
the first four weeks of this research. The questionnaire and sample was identical to that used for this report and
reflects fieldwork conducted between 18th May and 12th June. The purpose of this comparison is to demonstrate
how intentions and attitudes have changed over time, particularly in light of the lifting of restrictions in recent
weeks.
