Dominique Görlitz doesn’t limit himself to the research of processes and findings of the past. He conveys a deeper message: societies have not failed due to lack of ingenuity. Ancient civilizations perished because they were not able to change their conventional ways of thinking. The requirements in our modern society to the highest innovation power, flexibility and creativity are confronted with our "mental roadblocks". Görlitz' Abora projects can give conclusive answers to questions that are highly relevant to modern society.
Our society has difficulties with these challenges, because the change
into new behaviors also mean to quit old inherited patterns.
The future is complex, dynamic and difficult to predict...
Dominique Görlitz ...the extreme sailor
Görlitz follows his vision since his earliest adolescence to continue the research of the famous Norwegian Thor Heyerdahl. To this goal, still in socialist East Germany, he already built simple reed boats in Gotha/Thuringia. As a student at the University FSU Jena he made his most important discovery on petroglyphs nearly 6.000 years old . As opposed to the Egyptian petroglyphs that Heyerdahl interpreted, those showed the use of leeboards on reed boats with sails and without a keel.
He concluded this were the first recorded evidence that in ancient times man could
sail with rafts across and against the wind. Up to this moment all maritime experts
and archaeologists were convinced that this was impossible –
a genuine rule-breaking in historical science.
With ABORA I (1999) and ABORA II (2002) he crossed nearly 3.000 km against the
wind in the Mediterranean Sea. Again he challenged science in 2007
with ABORA III. His sailing-trip over 4.400 km documented that it would have been
possible to cross the North Atlantic with an archaic reed boat.
In 2003 Görlitz became a member of the prestigious EXPLORERS CLUB in Manhattan/USA.

Dominique Görlitz ....the scientist
For many years Dominique Görlitz has been researching with interdisciplinary methods on prehistoric cultural exchange. His partners include international research institutions of the highest rank, such as Leibniz Institute for Plant Research (IPK), the Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ, the University of Applied Science FH Kiel or the Technical University HTW Dresden. The range of his research extends far beyond to building prehistoric ships. Together with the IPK he has solved another paradox archaeological example of plant dispersal.
With his drift studies he disproved the theory that plants have spread across the sea to America independently of man. On this subject, Goerlitz is completing his Ph.D. at the University of Erlangen. Further research projects are: - Astro-Archaeological studies in
Palaeonavigation - Studies on mysterious globes and
maps of the early 16th century His research lead to new findings that an intercontinental exchange of cultures was probably much older and more developed.
Görlitz is completing his Ph.D. at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Dominique Görlitz ... the lecturer
Görlitz is speaker in the Global-Top Speaker Agency/Dillingen since 2010.
The leader of the ABORA expeditions takes each and everyone of his listeners on his journeys with his thrilling speeches. He always manages to establish a symbiosis of marine, research and modern entrepreneurship and illustrate that the mega-trends of the presence are in fact much older. His lectures are well illustrated and underpinned by captivating movies. Equally amusing and entertaining, he illustrates that there is a continuity between past and present developments.
His strength lies in his ability to use his research trips as a metaphor for the modern entrepreneurship. He runs the gamut from his research on group dynamics to future societal developments. If necessary, he is integrating any other theme in his lectures. His speeches are carrying him not only on to the Seven seas, but to many countries including the U.S., Norway, Italy, Egypt, Bolivia, Lebanon and Cyprus. Talk to the Gobal-Top-Speaker team!

All in a boat together - teamwork as a key for success!

Dominique Gorlitz talks in this multi-media presentatiosn about his experiences in the field of motivation and ability to work in a team. He bridges the gap between the social sciences, applied sciences and the interpersonal interactions that you see every day in your company. In the lecture, many scenes from the life on board of the ABORA expedition are shown in exciting movies. Communication, cooperation and joint action were necessary not only as stone age survival strategies. • How to get along in harmony and peace for over 2 months with eleven men and women of different ages and backgrounds on the stormy North Atlantic on a prehistoric reed boat? • How do you motivate a "motley bunch" of international participants to build a ship - without any payment ? • What lessons can be transferred to a business from this expedition, and successfully applied for the employees?

The Future was yesterday - what we can learn from the ancient Egyptians?

The state of old technologies, often ridiculed today, proves to be surprisingly advanced upon closer examination. Decades of research, the last ABORA expeditions and the current plans for a new reed boat expedition are issues that are urging the researcher Dominique Görlitz. Change in the social and technical sense requires courage and determination to innovate and create new things. The presentation is a reminder why we can learn so much from the past. In this speech the ABORA-Missions are examples that the courage to think and act creative doesn't mean to step backwards and to have to go without luxury. To master the extensive processes of changes the key is not the updating and accelerating of the existing processes and structures, but the breaking out of those patterns. This the speaker points out with impressive examples, and has a clear message: Only he who thinks new, will reach a new and truly sustainable growth!

All are living on one planet - against the mainstream and new approaches for sustainable changes
- 16 -
Life on planet Earth has always been exposed to many natural factors. The climate change caused by humans is presently postulated by the media as one of the greatest challenges and threats to the existence of future generations. But does this scenario correspond with the actual results of science? And if not, what does this mean for our economic and energy policy decisions? On thousands of years old petroglyphs, from historical maps and other phenomena of science the speech puts in front of everybody that something does not align with the often-cited climate change! In addition, he is presenting new alternative explanations which are so little published in the press before. And he is critical of the handling of this issue in the media where you almost could get the impression that science is misused to "substitute for religion" in terms of global change. In this case each can do something to protect our planet. The lecture will bring you motivation and does not stir up fears, because global responsibility is everybody's business!
