Tea Time!

TopicThis instructional design will allow people with no prior experience making tea to make

a pot of tea.

TheoryIn this particular example, the design will follow the constructive learning theory. Inparticular, learners will engage with physical objects to determine how to make tea.

ProblemPeople are lacking the energy and clear thinking they need to get home work andregular work done. When they are tired, they are resorting to using monster drinks or

coffee to give them the energy to get things done. This must change. Tea provides 4different chemicals that provide energy while also supporting clear thinking, while coffeeprovides 1 chemical, (caffeine) that provides energy, but due to the abundance ofcaffeine with no additional compounds to soften that impact, the mind bounces aroundlike a pinball machine. Students need to drink more tea so they will get better grades, but they don’t know how to make it. Graduation depends on the ability to brew a pot oftea.

 Audience

The audience is those who do not have the basic tea making skills and want to have aclearer head. Without the ability to brew a pot of tea, they will be forced to delaygraduation.

Purpose

This instruction is designed to enable students to make a delicious pot of tea. They willbe able to make a pot of tea over and over to provide themselves with refreshment tomake it through the courses ahead enabling them to graduate and find gainfulemployment.

Format

In the first design, students will be given the supplies and directions necessary to createa pot of tea. These include loose tea leaves, an infuser, a teapot, a heat source, sweetener, cream, 2 cups, measuring spoons, water and a four cup measuring cup. They will have printed directions to serve as a resource.
