What is PUWhat is PU

Polyurethane is an organic polymer.

"Polyurethanes are formed byreacting a polyol (an alcohol with

more than two reactive hydroxylgroups per molecule) with adiisocyanate or a polymeric

isocyanate in the presence of suitablecatalysts and additives."

Polyurethanes are best known to the publicin the form of flexible foams: upholstery,

mattresses, earplugs, chemical-resistantcoatings, specialty adhesives and sealants,and packaging. It also comes to the rigidforms of insulation for buildings, waterheaters, refrigerated transport, andcommercial and residential refrigeration.

In general the shelf life of urethanes is from6 to 12 months.

Good water resistance Good resistance to alkalis, salts and dilute acids

Good outdoor weather resistance

Organic solvent resistance is not as good as PU
