SHIP is a state funded initiative to reduce

chronic diseases associated with tobacco

use and exposure and obesity

School Strategies Healthy Eating (Farm 2 school, school gardens,

classroom celebrations, snacks, vending, concessions,a la carte etc.)

Physical Activity (Safe Routes to School, ActiveClassroom, Active PE, Active Recess, Before/After

School) School as a worksite (physical activity, nutrition and

tobacco cessation for staff)

SHIP School Site Requirements/Outcomes:

Work on both Healthy Eating and Physical Activity

Convene a School Health Council (wellness committee)

consisting of representation from each school building,

administration, community and teachers/support staff)

Revise and strengthen school policy language

Work in K-12 (entire school system) Connect with SHIP Staff Person at least once per month

Submit reimbursements quarterly
