Bells/Car Pick-up/Bus Procedures

• Students may begin arriving to school at 7:00 a.m. Students who eat breakfast at school may go straight to the lunchroom. Students that arrive by car and do not eat breakfast will go straight to the library, and students that arrive by bus and do not eat breakfast will go straight to the music room. Students will be directed to go to class at 7:30. Students arriving after 7:45 will be counted tardy. If your child arrives late, you must report to the main office with your child to sign him/her in. If your child is a car rider, after the first 4 days of school, please plan to drop him/her off in the car line at the front of the school. Please do not park and walk them to the door. Dismissal is at 2:45.

• If your child’s pick–up routine is going to be different for the day, you must call the school EARLY in the day and I will receive the message from our secretary, or you may send me a note. If I do not have a note from you or a message from school personnel, I will send your child home the way he/she normally goes home. Your child cannot tell me that day and expect to go home a different way than normal.

• Car riders must be picked up by 3:00 p.m. If not, we will be required to send them to extended day where payment will be expected.

• Bus riders will have a colored arm band that helps us know who goes on which bus. PLEASE LEAVE THEM ON FOR THE FIRST 7 DAYS OF SCHOOL!!!!!

Page 3: Ppt For Orientation Agenda 2010 2011

Visor Cards• Each child will receive two visor cards. If you

need more please let me know. If someone has a visor card, they are authorized to pick up your child. Without a visor card, the driver will be asked to park in the parking lot and go to the office for verification. YOU MUST HAVE THE CARD TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD (UNTIL THE VERY LAST DAY OF SCHOOL).

• THIS IS SCHOOL POLICY IN ORDER TO KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE!!!! Please leave them on your visor so they will be visible for your child’s name to be called. Children who ride the bus must have a parent/guardian waiting outside with the visor card in hand for the bus to pick up the child.

Lunch/Snack Procedures

• LUNCH-Please send money for lunch in an envelope with student name, teacher name, lunch #, amount in envelope, and labeled lunch. You may pay by the day, week, or month. Any money not used will be carried over to the next day/week. All money must be put in your child’s red folder. Your child may bring lunch, but please remember that we may not have time to “heat up” a lunch…so please send a lunch that does not need to be heated.

• SNACK-If your child plans to purchase snack from the school you must send snack money DAILY! For a drink and chips the cost is $1.00. You can not longer pay snack by the week or month. We cannot keep money in our room and it cannot be sent to the office. We have no way of keeping up with the money so if you send more than $1.00 the money will be returned home each day. You may send a snack from home as well.

• Absences are either excused or unexcused. If your child is absent, please send a NOTE WITHIN 2 DAYS of their return to school or the absence will be counted as unexcused. Three (3) unexcused tardies=one (1) unexcused absence. You may only have 4 PARENT NOTES per semester. I am giving you pre-made excuses that you may use. Attendance is accounted for in kindergarten!!! Please read the entire attendance policy of Albertville City Schools in your red handbook.

• If you did not bring supplies tonight, you may bring them to meet and greet August 11th at 9:00. Please send supplies by the end of the first full week of school. If this is a problem, please let me know. Make sure your child has a towel for resting and an extra change of clothes in a Ziploc baggie. This includes shirt, pants, socks, and underwear. (Please NO REST MATS-we do not have room to store them)

Money/Fees

• You may pay the $30.00 donation tonight or at meet and greet. This helps provide our classroom with essential materials needed in kindergarten such as construction paper, paint, overhead markers & bulbs, chart tablets, poster board, glitter, etc. It is very costly to educate our children appropriately.

• You may pay lunch in advance tonight if you would like.

Scholastic Book Orders

• Book orders will be sent home periodically. This is optional. When you place a book club order, please make the checks out to SCHOLASTIC not to Big Spring Lake. This is a great way to build your child’s home library. You can get books for .95 a lot of the time. Having books at home will instill a love of reading early on for your child!

House Under Construction

• Your child should be learning their full name, parent’s name, address, phone number, and lunch number. I will be asking your child to tell me this information. For everything he/she has remembered they will get to color part of their house. When it is complete, they will be allowed to say the pledge at the next PTO meeting. This will be videoed and you will have the opportunity to purchase a copy.
