The second type of bus is privately run Halk Otobüsü, which are green or blue. Tickets are not welcome on these buses and only cash is accepted. However the price is the same. 3 – PLACE TO VISIT:

3.1-Museums & Historical places & Sightseeing

Anatolian Civilization Museum:

Winner of the 1997 Best European Museum award, Ankara's Museum of Anatolian Civilisations details Turkey's past through innumerable artefacts from the Anatolia peninsular. The building itself is particularly imposing and is a restored ten-domed 15th-century market vault (bedesten). Exhibits include fine examples from Paleolithic and Neolithic times, right up to the Lydian period and everything in between. The classical Greek and Roman artefacts downstairs are also worth checking out.

Ankara museum open: daily - 08:30 to 17:30

Address: Ulus (Old Ankara), Ankara, Turkey.

Independence War Museum:

You can check out the many photographs and documents at the Museum of the War of Independence to learn details about independence and democracy in the Ottoman Empire. Anıtkabir (Moseleum of the Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK) :

This fine memorial complex built in 1944 commemorates the Turkish founder, Atatürk. Known locally as the Anıtkabir, the Atatürk Mausoleum is a stark yet grand and imposing attraction, located atop a series of steps and featuring a huge mosaic courtyard, together with an exceptionally beautiful gold-leaf clad interior. The Changing of the Guard ceremony is well worth a look, as is the recent War of Independence Museum, which encircles the courtyard at its lower level.

ANKARA Castle:

Ankara Castle has guarded the city for centuries, given that its history is as old as the city itself. Therefore, it is now a symbol of Ankara and its history. The construction year is not definite, however it is believed that it was built during the period of Roman Empire, then repaired and expanded by Selçuks. The Castle has two parts, an inner and an outer castle, with over 20 towers. The outer castle encloses the old city within its heart-shaped walls. The four-level inner castle is made partly of Ankara stone and partly of stones gathered from other structures. The two large gates of the inner castle are called the Outer Gate and the Castle Gate. The towers within the castle vary between 14-16 metres in height. Today within the castle walls there are a number of Ottoman-style houses dating as far back as the 17th century.

Kocatepe Mosque(Kocatepe Camii):

Ankara's newest and largest mosque has a commanding position on Kocatepe hill and is a popular and grand city landmark. The mosque was built in the Ottoman style in

1987 and features stained-glass windows, marble and gold leaf décor, and a massive crystal chandelier. The model of the Mescid-I Nebevi mosque, Medina, can be seen inside,

while a shopping store is actually sited within the basement.Ankara landmark open: daily

Address: KIZILAY, Kocatepe, Ankara, Turkey.

3.2- Near to AnkaraKapadokya (Cappadocia):The spectacular rock formations of Cappadocia are the main attraction and the reason that this area has become so popular, being created by natural erosion of a period of many thousands of years. There are also some incredible underground cities, tunnels and connected sites, which number around 300 in total and were first created almost 2,500 years ago and greatly extended during Roman times, remaining so well hidden that they were only discovered in the 1960s.

Beypazarı:Beypazari is a truly historic and traditional town, previously known as Lagania and located within the Ankara Province, some 100 km the north-west of the city itself. Although this Anatolian town may be relatively small, there is a lot to see and this is certainly one of the most visited towns within the entire region. Tourists will find much in the way of Ottoman architecture and a very lively bazaar. The mineral water of Beypazari is also worth checking out.

Konya:Formerly known as Iconium, the city of Konya is known to have been inhabited for over 5,000 years, and so is home to a selection of ancient attractions and excavated artefacts, many of which are on display within the Mevlana Museum. Konya is to be found south of Ankara and is filled with old buildings with exquisite Seljuk architecture, adding much character to the city. The Iplikci Mosque is one of the oldest cites still standing in Konya and dates from the 13th century. Also of interest is the Aleaddin Tepesi, an eye-catching man-made hill standing in the very heart of Konya, which serves as a city park and was created by the Selçuk Sultan Aleaddin Keykubat
