INTRODUCTIONAccounting Standards are constantly changing due to improvements, amendments and new issues, thus keeping up to date with current practices on the principles of MFRS/IFRS is a daunting task for management accountants in practice. This seminar attempts to make the task easier by giving an overview on the current practice of MFRS/IFRS.

OBJECTIVE

• To serve as a refresher course for management accountants• To provide an update on current technical issues• To provide an overview of selected Standards from the perspective of preparer and

management• To focus on practical interpretation of the standards and controversial practical issues • To highlight what is regarded as generally accepted accounting practice• To explain how accounting Standards influence management practices and audit

procedures as well as their impacts on the financial performance, financial positions, and cash flow information

Mr Danny Tan has over 30 years of workingexperience in public practice, commerce andindustry. In the early phase of his career he workedfor two UK-based Multinational companies for fiveyears and was engaged as an economist andsubsequently as a business development manager.Later he trained with a firm of CharteredAccountants in London where he qualified as aprofessional accountant. He continued hisprofessional career in public practice for 10 yearsbefore establishing a consulting firm specialising infinancial reporting.

In the last 18 years he is a partner of a consultingfirm providing technical training and consultancy inIFRS and IPSAS. Most of his client’s profiles aremainly from multinational companies, governments,regulators and professional institutions, auditorsand lawyers. Danny regularly provides continuingprofessional training in IFRS and IPSAS in London,Europe, Middle East, and the Asia Pacific.

Danny was engaged in an advisory capacity forcompanies and auditors on IFRS technical matters.He has held several honorary advisory roles infinancial reporting committees and working groups.He is currently a project manager with the MalaysianAccounting Standards Board, working on severalprojects. He is a member of the GovernmentAccounting Standards Advisory Committee.Academically he holds an Honours Degree inEconomics from England, two master degrees – anMBA in Finance from Scotland and a Master inAdvance Business Practice from Australia. Hisprofessional memberships include fellow member ofCIMA (UK) and ACCA (UK), member of MIA, CTIMin Malaysia and ISCA (Singapore).
