At the heart of a partnership of National En-gineering schools (ENI) (a group comprised of ENI Brest, ENI Metz, ENI St Étienne and ENI Tarbes) and the University of Lorraine’s INP Collegium, the National Engineering School of Metz is a public university which, since 1962, has been shaping qualified engineers in the fields of mechanical, material and industrial engineering, with teaching based on a pragma-tic and practical approach.

The school offers universal and career-orien-tated courses lasting either three or five years, and which arecertified by the ‘Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur’ (CTI).

The ENIM course is tailored to the needs of businesses and to a constantly-changing wor-ld, by maintaining strong links with the indus-trial world and with its international academic partners.

Since 2010, the ENIM has benefited from a brand-new building, which combines aesthe-tic quality with exemplary functionality, and offers students a 3,000m2 technology hall, allowing them to discover the real-life applica-tions of engineering.

5 years to shape your future

A two-year general preparatory course, followed by a three-year enginee-ring course: five years exploring engineering to build futurestailor-made to each student, push them forward and developa number of abilities, opening a diverse range of opportunities in a number of sectors.

These two years introduce students tothe engineering sector, the business world and the duties an engineer could have to fulfil, all while laying the required scientific and techni-cal foundations combined with interpersonal skills.

At the ENIM, first years are supported in their transition from secondary to higher educa-tion, giving all students the best opportunity to succeed. As early as second year, students are put in contact with the industrial world through a 5-month work experience, but also with several company visits, all of which act as a stepping stone into the industrial world.

These two years enable students to develop the skills required to successfully integrate into the engineering course of their choice.

It is possible to go directly into the enginee-ring course after studying for two years at another university. The engineering course enables students to perfect their scientific knowledge, define and fine tune their career objectives, and tackle today’s professional challenges.Over these three years, teaching is focused on lectures and seminars alongside practical work, group projects and company visits, as well as networking with professional engineers.A 5-month internship and an end-of-studies project are the two highlights of this course. Through the development of a technically-de-manding assignment, the 4th year internship aims to give ENIM engineers a good knowledge of working methods and the stresses of the in-dustrial world. They will there be able to apply what they have learnt to the real-life problems they encounter.

In 5th year, the end-of-studies project marks the end of the course. Il allows students to bring together and apply all the knowledge gained throughout the engineering course. It marks a complete transition from academia to employment.

ENIM lecturers and researchers are members of four laboratories recognised for research areas ranging from mechanics of materials and the study of production systems, to in-dustrial engineering and the optimisation of complex systems.

The link between research and engineering isa core strength of the curriculum, allowing us to constantly improve the quality of tea-ching and give students greater access to doc-torates. Alongside their engineering training, students can start preparing for a research Master’s degreevia the 5th year specialisation “research development and innovation”.

2 Master’s degrees are therefore available to ENIM students

an education grounded in research

The students develop their career objectives throughout their studies. The ENIM offers each student the opportunity of personalising their course, based on their professional and personal aspirations.

Therefore, students can:• carry out internships and a PFE (end-of-stu-dies project) in a wide range of sectors • study abroad • complete a dual degree• take more research-orientated courses

Every ENIM student spends at least one se-mester abroad where they experience total immersion in a new culture. They have three options:• a semester in a partner university • an internship in a foreign company • a personal project confirmed by the school This experience of living abroad represents an opportunity to develop speaking skills in real-life professional situations which require the use of specific lexis.Students are welcomed abroad by renowned institutions, thanks to numerous international partnerships. Every student who wishes to go abroad can rely on the feedback and supervision provided by the international relations team, ensuring each adventure is a success. Feedback and supervision are made available to all students by the international relations office, to ensure that each adventure abroad is successful.

Throughout their education, our engineering students must apply their knowledge and skillsto the industrial world during their in-ternships.

In order to put their academic knowledge into practice, students experience 15 months of in-ternships spread across the five-year course.

The end-of-studies project (PFE) is a stepping stone to employment and is the final stage of the students’ education. Thisproject is an op-portunity for students to experience the rea-lity of the field, to build their first professional network and tostrengthen their personal and career objectives.

More than just a final internship, the PFE is a high-quality service provided to businesses. The ENIM accompaniesbusinesses through the provision of quality service. Over 20 weeks (a total of1,600 hours) a team made up of two fu-ture engineers, teachers and staff will work on a project.

Where companies and opportunities for re-search and teaching meet, the ENIM provides a major contribution to innovation and maste-ring changes through courses tailored to your needs.

Accessible to all professionals, courses offered by the ENIM can lead to:

• an engineering degree

• a specialised Master’s degree (two years at postgraduate level) in Industrial Project and Logistical Management

• certification in various fields: Continuous im-provement, non-destructive testing etc.

• personal development in a company

The courses provided can also allow partners to further their skills in order to perform tasks more efficiently within particular fields, such as high-speed machining, industrial compu-ting, maintenance, grinding and design.

Student life at the enimLead projects, be united, share your experience …For a long time, student societies have been heavily supported at the ENIM. These ex-tra-curricular activities allow students to get involved in school life and to acquire the so-cial skills required to tackle the varied situa-tions that they will encounter across their career.

Integration, solidarity, personal fulfilment, taking responsibility and maturity are the key words of this policy. They complete the practical training as students can put into practice the theory taught in class.

The student office (BDE) is the central society. Its purpose is to coordinate all other societies and clubs. It organises among other events:• Communication between the school and the students • Themed get-togethers every week• ENIM parties
