prayer without ceasing - a week of prayer for london at st paul's cathedral
TRANSCRIPT
Take a minute to thank Father God for the church family He has given you.
Also thank Father God for specific blessings in your life.
Take some time to think about things you may have done this week that did not glorify and
respect God.
Apologise for every wrong thought, word and deed.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, the sinner
Lord we pray,
For more confidence in speaking and living the gospel of Jesus Christ.
For all who seek to communicate the gospel – by speaking, new media, in the public square and in living out in daily life.
For all those already commissioned as ambassadors for Jesus Christ in daily life.
For those who have heard or are hearing a call to ordained ministry.
For church leaders, in our own Diocese and for our own parish priest.
Lord we pray,
For more compassion in serving communities with the love of God the Father.
For community projects known to you which are living examples of compassion in
serving our communities with God’s love.
For our buildings, pray that we would use them generously and wisely.
For schools across London, both church schools and community schools –
pray for ever deeper links between schools and local Christian community.
Lord we pray,
For more creativity in reaching new people and places with the
Good News in the power of the Spirit.
For the young of our city, that they may come to know Jesus Christ.
For all those living, working and engaging in sport in our city.
For those engaged in creative arts and those seeking to live out
their faith in the creative sphere.
For new worshipping communities in Tottenham Hale, Holborn,
Old Street, Holloway, the City and Parsons Green, and for those being
planned in the coming months.
For those known to us whom we long to hear the Good News.
Take a minute to pray for your own most personal needs today
‘‘So I say to you: ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.’ Luke 11:9
Lord, let our memory provide no shelter for grievance against each other.Lord, let our heart provide no harbour for hatred of each other.Lord, let our tongue be no accomplice in the judgment of each other.
Take a minute to pray for your relationships at home and work. Especially for God’s blessing upon people who have hurt you.
Pray for youth workers, counsellors, charity workers, and anyone known to you who works on the front-line of caring for others in London.
Pray for integrity amongst our leaders in government, commerce, the media and every sphere of society where there are so many challenges and temptations to sin.
Pray for those who have difficult temptations to face, and who know only too well that they may fall to them, if they try to meet them alone.
A Prayer For London Imagine the cross is taller than the Shard
Imagine a poet wiser than the Bard
Imagine time unbounded by Big Ben’s chime
Imagine a river untamed and pure
bearing freedom to every shore.
Imagine a monarch with the universe at their feet
Imagine an ear that hears every heart beat
Imagine a hand that is ever strong
Imagine a judge that will right every wrong
and turn lament to joyous song.
Imagine not just this; for all this is written, sure and true
Imagine rather what in our time such a One might do
Come Lord Jesus, our hearts and city renew
Come Lord Jesus, our hearts and city renew.
