Why Bible college?

We believe that time invested in establishing your own relationship with Jesus Christ is crucial for living life well. A life lived following Jesus Christ has lasting meaning and impact. The challenge of course is developing an authentic relationship with Him. At PRBI, we focus on disciple-making, where a faculty or staff member, or upperclassman disciples you in your journey with Jesus Christ. As we get to know Jesus, our character grows to be like His and we take on His heart of service.

We believe a solid understanding of God’s Word, the Bible, has the answers to life and equips us to know God, walk in His truth, and serve others in grace and truth. We focus on helping you develop a biblical worldview that answers your questions and the questions of others around you.

Last, we believe a life of service reflects Jesus’ character and is an expression of our love for Him. At PRBI, we provide opportunities for you to explore your gifting and find your place in Jesus Christ’s kingdom here on earth, wherever you live and serve.

As a Bible College for Life, we seek to help you lay a foundation for living your life well and for helping you bring Jesus into your world.

Come journey with us in learning how to live life well with Jesus.

Waldie Neufeld, Ph.D.President

1 PRBI is committed to helping you establish a faith foundation for living life well.

To train believers to become disciple-makers who know God, model His character, and are able to build into others the life-changing principles of God’s Word.

Our dream at PRBI is to see every believer in Canada become a disciple-maker who impacts their world for Jesus Christ! Disciple-making at PRBI is not just a course or program that you take, it is a way of life.

Our vision of making disciples is incorporated into every aspect of the college. We are committed to walking with you as you attend classes, go to chapel, live in the dorm, participate in a care group, are involved in intentional mentoring relationships, eat in the dining hall, and participate in ministry, both on and off campus.

Discipleship is a relationship where a spiritually minded person uses the Word of God to teach, reprove, correct, and train (2 Tm 3:16-17) a learner in Christ how to live a God-centred life in faith, wisdom, and love.

DISCIPLE-MAKING VISION

4PRBI is committed to training believers to become disciple-makers who impact their world for Christ.

Just as Jesus had the disciples carve out three years of their lives, we also believe the process of becoming a disciple-maker takes time. Academics at PRBI are designed to help you establish your relationship with Jesus Christ, understand what it means to become a follower of Him, and learn how to take others through the same process.

Come get to know the personal God of the Bible through high-quality, college level courses where you are encouraged to ask questions about faith and life. You will be challenged to take biblical principles beyond the classroom, transforming the way you view life, interact in relationships, and fit into the greater picture of our world.

Our faculty to student ratio allows our professors to engage in your spiritual growth beyond the classroom. They don’t just see themselves as instructors, but as your mentors.

Visit www.prbi.edu/AcademicProgram for the most current academic information.

We will discuss both strategies employed and challenges faced by local churches in doing discipleship. 35

One of the practical ways discipleship is worked out at PRBI is by learning to live together in community. The majority of our students, single or married, liveon campus where there are many opportunities to share in each other’s lives and belong to something bigger.

Living in community at PRBI brings to light what it means to belong to the body of Christ. While it does have a way of exposing our character flaws, it is also a great place for people to care enough about you to speak truth into your life. Grace is demonstrated in a very practical manner. Learning to live in community as Christ intended results in others being encouraged, built up in their faith, and spurred on in their journey.

We believe your spiritual growth and maturity will be enhanced as you choose to become part of a community that is willing to embrace the journey of following Christ together.

COLLEGE LIFE

PRBI believes that our character is developed best in community.

Page 37: PRBI Viewbook

37

CARE GROUPS are one of the primary ways we participate in discipleship on campus. In these groups, accountability, encouragement, and the love of Christ are demonstrated. Your care group, led by a student Care Leader, will meet weekly and be involved in activities both on and off campus.

Page 39: PRBI Viewbook

38

DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS meet weekly to build into each other and talk about real life. Typically, upperclassmen disciple freshmen, and PRBI staff and faculty disciple upperclassmen. All students are in a discipleship group and most of these groups are formed within the first month of school.
