Trolley Safety Trolley strikes pose a risk to anybody working in the Mezzanine. The main cause of trolley strikes is colleagues not following the trolley code.
Cutting corners, pushing your trolley to close to the colleague in front, and rushing all seem trivial. However, they all have the potential to cause an injury to one of your colleagues.
Trolley users are all responsible for reducing trolley strikes by ensuring they follow the trolley code at all times when operating a trolley:
1. Complete your pre-use checks
2. Keep a safe distance from the colleague in front
3. Always use 2 hands when pushing your trolley
4. Be considerate when parking consider if other trolley users can pass safely
5. Only push one trolley at a time even in busy periods
6. Dont cut corners and dont drive in the white zones
7. Check you have good visibility
8. Always concentrate on where you are going
9. Keep to the left hand side of the aisle
10. Push your trolley at a sensible pace
Non trolley users are also responsible for reducing trolley strikes by identifying and correcting all unsafe trolley use they see. This means all colleagues on site must be familiar with the trolley code to the point they are able to recite it.
By working together we can eliminate trolley related injuries on our site.
Thanks for your support, John Pidduck Trolley Safety Champion
