LEARN WORK PLAY THINK LIVEThe Hungry Caterpillar is a reputed school with a history of 10 long years that has turned out an excellent caliber of students with a strong foundation and positive attitude towards learning. The School has gone through major transformation and has now moved into a magnificent premise, a new building with state of the art facility, and an open door to excellence in the field of education. It is a place where Learning is fun and Teaching is a pleasure.
PRE-PRIMARY SECTION OF THE SCHOOLThe Learning Framework of Uganda (NCDC) for Early Childhood 3-6 years of age is outcome and competence based. Emphasis is on learner centeredness and provides for increased learner teacher contact time. The school program is result oriented, with observable and measurable skills, knowledge, competences and values to be acquired by the children in the following areas.
• Communication and Language• Problem solving and Mathematical concepts• Knowledge & Understanding of the World• Physical development• Creative development
Personal, social and emotional development pervades the entire Pre-primary as the focus is on the development of Life skills in all areas of Early childhood.

age group. Extensive teaching aids to promote holistic and all round development suitable for the age group is available.
• A specially designed Swimming Pool supervised by a trained adult. • A well stocked Library and an Audio Visual room • A Sandpit and a ‘Make your Garden patch’.• Fully loaded child friendly attractive outdoor and indoor Play Areas
are some of the facilities provided.• The children also experience the world of IT – computer games
matching and sorting, painting and designed to serve as reinforcement of all that is learnt in the class.
When you walk into the school there is a noticeable feeling of warmth, “Aunty B” whose warmth and affection permeates the whole school, staff and children, has 18 years of experience working with children.

Teachers: In-service training is attended by all the teachers in all areas of school conducted every term to maintain the high standard. We have dedicated and disciplined, patient yet enthusiastic staff who work at bringing out the best in children. The teachers follow the “Positive Discipline” approach when handling children which is being kind and yet firm.
We have four groups:
• Play group: ages 2-3yrs of age• Baby class: ages 3-4yrs of age• Middle class: ages 4-5 yrs of age• Top class: 5-6 yrs of age

PRIMARY SECTION OF THE SCHOOL“We strive for quality performance and all round development”
The school also offers Primary education, of Uganda for students (UNEB) 6 -12 yrs, P 1 to P VII with a difference. Today, Education has taken on a new meaning, different approaches are merged and integrated to suit a culture and presented to the children to become achievers. The curriculum is project based. Good grooming, Eloquent expression, Logic and Reasoning are some of the qualities the primary children will reflect by the time they leave the school. .The Primary section at The Hungry Caterpillar is beautifully structured to ensure broad based development of the pupils. Here the pupils are able to develop their cognitive, social, emotional, cultural and physical skills to the best of their abilities preparing them for their future school career. We believe that proficiency in Language, Arithmetic and Science is an essential condition for continued development.
Specialist teachers work in the Library, IT, and co-curricular activities like Sports, Taekwondo, Ballet and Swimming. We are in compliance with the requirement that good development of the pupils is an education system that sets challenging targets for every pupil. Hence we adopt an outcome oriented approach where the pupil and school performance is regularly evaluated. Appropriate and challenging education requires a professional school structure with good teachers and good leaders as we have at The Hungry Caterpillar.

An Audio visual room, IT room, A well stocked Library, A sick bay, and a Game area. We also have clean separate washrooms for Girls and Boys. We have installed Close Circuit TV in all areas of the school to ensure security. The children of The Hungry Caterpillar School are GEMS. The school has Four Houses developing a competitive spirit among the children to become achievers in all activities. We also believe the children will reflect the qualities of the gems as in

• Topaz being the yellow house will stimulate the children to reflect sunshine.• Ruby being the red house aims at producing dynamic and stable achievers.• Emerald the green house aims at developing kind and compassionate winners.• Sapphire(the blue house)aims at reflecting amazing wisdom and honest achievers.

Uniform: The children are expected to follow the school policy with regard to the uniform. The payment, order and the delivery can be done at the school office.
