Calibration, adjustment and inspectionunder real conditions

Introduction

Thermometers, thermocouples and othertemperature sensors are subjected tomechanical, thermal and chemi calstresses which speed artif icialageing. This is particularly true inindustrial use. However, sincetemperature has become one ofthe most important indicators ofquality, operational safety andservice life in an ever-increasingnumber of industrial processes,the on site calibration oftemperature sensors has taken onspecial significance.

Temperature sensors must beinspected, adjusted and calibratedbefore use in testing stations anddevelopment laboratories.The aim of SIKA engineers whenthey developed the series TP 28000 precision cali brators was todevelop an easily transportable,robust and accurate calibrator foras many applications as possi ble.As a user, you can now choosebetween three models with varyingtemperature ranges, heating blockmaterials and block bores toenable you to perform yourcalibration, adjustment andinspection tasks under idealcondit ions.

Technology

The series TP 2 8 0 0 0 calibration unitsoperate with an electronically controlledheat-able and cool-able aluminum or brassblock (depending on the temperaturerange). The block has one or three holes fo rholding the test pieces. The blocktemperature is programmed via pushbuttons and can be accurately set to 1 / 1 O K .

Alternatively, the block temperature or thetemperature measured on the testpiece is displayed on the 4 1 /2 -d i g i tdigital display with a resolution of 1 / 1 0 K .

The switchable sensor input allowscalibration, adjustment and inspection ofresistance thermometers, standardthermocouples, temperature switchesand thermostats. Thermometers areinspected by comparing the temperature

readoff on the test piece with the blocktemperature (digital display).

Laboratory accuracy

The accuracy of the heating blocktemperature is the most importantperformance criterion of a temperaturecalibrator. Thanks to the use of a newlydesi gned microprocessor-controlled PIDcontroller, it is now possible to increasesignificantly the temperature accuracy ofthe SIKA calibrators compared with

units with conventional analogcontrollers. The controller, which reactsto the slightest temperature deviationsand control circuit interference in a quasiintelligent manner, is able to stabilize theheating block temperature to+/-0, 1 K.

Monitoring testingequipment inaccordance with DINISO 9001.. . 9OO3The SIKA calibrators can besupplied optionally with acertificate of the GermanCalibration Service (DKD) or aSIKA Works Certificate.

This allows the user to monitorquality assurance testingequipment as required by DINISO 9001. . . 9003.

Special Types

Parallel Test(TP 28 200 7600)

Instruments with an integralscanner can be supplied f o rthe parallel test of sensors.Together with our softwarepackage an automatic paralleltest including test data logging

can be carried out.

Immersion Length (TP 28 200 / 600)

For dimension reasons (protection tubeetc. ) not all the sensors can be tested witha standard immersion length of 100 mm.With our special type with 200 mmimmersion however these sensors do notcause any problems.

Measuring Transmitter

In order to test the temperature sensoras well as the measuring transmitter inone operation, the calibrators areavailable with a so called standard signalinput (0-10 V or 0(4)... 20 mA). Theoutput is then displayed directly in °C.

Computer-supportedwork with the SIKA-Series TP 28 000

Software

Complete control of the SIKA calibratorscan be taken over by an externalcomputer (via RS 232 C). In combina-tion with our calibrator and test softwarethe instruments of the series TP 28 000are an indispensable tool in the fields ofdevelopment, production, quality assu-rance and service.

Static or dynamic calibration and testroutines as well as statistical evaluati-

ons of serial tests are easy and quick toprogram and to carry out automaticallyin the menu driven software.

During the test operation the data of theblock and sensor temperature as well asthe switchpoint of temperature switchesare transmitted via RS 232 C. Theprocessing of the test data in tabular andgraphic form is carried out by oursoftware package.

A customer specific documentation bymeans of work test certificates or cali-

bration certificates is available. Thestored test data can be transmitted tohigher order Quality-Data-Manage-ment-System (QDMS). Thus, deliveryand production quality can be controlledmore quickly and accurately.
