Market Snapshot
We are seeing a 12 per cent increase in house sales lifted overall activity to its highest level since
early July 2014.
This lift in overall activity is a welcome sign given that the market has been trending down since
July last year, however activity remains below the same time last year when the highest level of
house sales was recorded for 2014.
Listings for sale continue to increase slowly, passing the 13,000 mark, while the average selling
days for the three months to January saw the December quarter figure of 57 days jump to 63
days. This indicates some older stock is starting to move.
The increase in leasing activity is pushing rental listing stock down, resulting in the vacancy rate
for the three months to January dropping slightly to 4.1 per cent.
