LOCATIONGravesend is a historically important town in north west Kent on the south bank of the Thames Estuary located 35km (21 miles) south east of central London. A Thames Gateway commuter town, it retains strong links with the River Thames, not least through the Port of London Authority Pilot Station. The town has a population of 66,000 (2011) and is the administrative centre of the Borough of Gravesham.
