PREMIUM DEPARTMENT RULESENTERING COMPETITION

Open to all residents of the State of Florida unless otherwise indicated. Also see age divisions under judging rules. Eligibility and number of Entries may be found under each department.

ENTRY FORMS/TAGS Entry forms are not required in all departments. Please refer to individual departments for instructions and application forms. Complete all sections of application prior to entry. Entry tags not properly completed are subject to rejection. Use separate tag for each item. No Photocopies of Entry Tags will be accepted. Entry tags are available by calling the Fair Office (954) 674-9768, faxing requests to (954) 272-7074 or emailing [email protected]

JUDGING All exhibits, with the exception of livestock, will be judged by Noon on Friday November 16, 2018. Teachers must pre-judge and submit their best work.Most exhibits will be judged on the Modified Danish System of judging. In this system each entry in a class or age division is judged on its own merit. This means every exhibit will receive a ribbon unless it has been disqualified by the judge. Judges have the option not to award Best of Show or other special awards if they find no work of this standard.Essays and Posters not included in Departments will be judged on the American System of Judging. In this system of judging each entry in a class or age division is judged in comparison to the other entries in the class. There will be no more than one first, second, third, etc., per class or age division. In all GROUP ENTRIES (this means any project that is done by more than one person and is entered as a club or group), there will be only one (1) first, second and third place award given in that department. Premiums will be awarded and judging will be based on the following age divisions unless otherwise specified:Elem. School Division Kindergarten through Grade 5 Middle School Division 6th, 7th & 8th Grades High School Division 9th through 12th Grades Adult Division Any person not enrolled in a public or private school or who is 18 years of age or older.

PROTESTS Judges have been carefully selected. All persons making entries accept this and will abide by their decisions. Protests upon any other grounds, or against judges, must be documented to Fair management on day of contest. In all cases, questions or comments arising from premium awards, missing prizes, missing or improperly written checks, or other EXHIBIT MATTERS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING TO FAIR MANAGEMENT PRIOR TO DECEMBER 1ST, 2014 NO EXCEPTIONS.

SECURITY Although every effort is made to ensure the safety of all exhibits, it is understood that the exhibits are entered in competition for prizes and that the owner assumes all responsibility for any accident, loss or damages that may occur. Neither the Broward County Fair, Inc., the County of Broward, officers of the association nor its agents will be held responsible for any loss, accident or damage. No smoking, lighted candles, lamps, matches, etc. will be allowed in any tent or exhibit area.

IDENTIFICATION For every article, animal or fowl entered, an entry tag or card will be filled out for identifying entry. A claim check shall be given to the exhibitor. This claim check MUST be presented to the proper official in each department at removal time.

ESSAY ENTRY DEADLINE All essays must be submitted online by Midnight, November 5, 2014.

PLACING EXHIBITS All exhibits must be placed by 9:00pm Thursday, November 20th at the Fair

.REMOVAL

Removal is scheduled for December 3 , 2018 from 9am to 7pm. All judged articles, animal or fowl must stay on exhibit until the closing of the Fair unless otherwise predetermined. All livestock and horticulture exhibits MUST BE REMOVED as indicated by department superintendent unless prior arrangements are made.

RESPONSIBILITY The Broward County Fair assumes NO RESPONSIBILITY for exhibits left after the removal time deadline. Items not claimed by December 3 , 2018/ 6pm may be disposed of by Fair management. All ribbons and/or premium checks may be forfeited. Any questions arising from premium awards, missing prizes, missing or improperly written checks, or other exhibit matters must be submitted in writing to Fair management prior December 16, 2018. NO EXCEPTIONS.

IMPORTANT AWARD AND PREMIUM CHECK NOTICEAll checks for Fair premium monies shall be deposited by the recipient/payee by March 1, 2018. If the recipient/payee fails to timely deposit said check, all monies due recipient/payee shall belong to the Fair and the recipient/payee shall be deemed to have made an unconditional and irrevocable gift of said monies to the Fair.

A 4’ x 7’ panel will accommodate approx. 8 pieces of 12” x 18” artwork or less if a combination of various sizes are displayed. Reserve boards by Nov. 8. Teachers are encouraged to cover display panels.

7. All projects must be quality work - superintendents can reject anything they consider substandard, or inappropriatefor public display.

8. No vertebrate animal experiments will be allowed in Elementary and Middle Age Divisions.

9. Vertebrate experiments will be permitted with proper ISEF certification.

10. Maximum area allowed for projects in Middle, High and Adult divisions is 30" deep, 48" wide, and 8' high.

11. Maximum area allowed for projects in the Elementary Division is 30" deep, 36" wide, and 5' high.

12. No electricity will be supplied.

13. Security and safety must be designed within the project

14. No chemicals, liquids or glass may be displayed.

15. No plants may be displayed. Take pictures instead.

RULES

1. Exhibits will be limited to two (2) entries per individual.

2. Only non-professionals will be accepted.

4. No items shall be accepted by mail. Items entered shall be hand-delivered the fairgrounds.

5. All entries MUST be handmade by exhibitor since 2017 Fair.

6. Please enter all clothing items on hangers.

7. All items must be clean and presentable AND ARE SHOWN AT OWNER’S RISK. Every effortis made to arrange entries in a manner which will keep public from touching.
