PREMIUM DEPARTMENT RULES ENTERING COMPETITION Open to all residents of the State of Florida unless otherwise indicated. Also see age divisions under judging rules. Eligibility and number of Entries may be found under each department. ENTRY FORMS/TAGS Entry forms are not required in all departments. PREMIUM DEPARTMENT RULESENTERING COMPETITION

Teachers must pre-judge and submit their best work.Most exhibits will be judged on the Modified Danish System of judging. No smoking, lighted candles, lamps, matches, etc. will be allowed in any tent or exhibit area.

IDENTIFICATION For every article, animal or fowl entered, an entry tag or card will be filled out for identifying entry. A claim check shall be given to the exhibitor. This claim check MUST be presented to the proper official in each department at removal time.

ESSAY ENTRY DEADLINE All essays must be submitted online by Midnight, November 5, 2014.

PLACING EXHIBITS All exhibits must be placed by 9:00pm Thursday, November 20th at the Fair

.REMOVAL

Removal is scheduled for December 3 , 2018 from 9am to 7pm. All judged articles, animal or fowl must stay on exhibit until the closing of the Fair unless otherwise predetermined. All livestock and horticulture exhibits MUST BE REMOVED as indicated by department superintendent unless prior arrangements are made.

RESPONSIBILITY The Broward County Fair assumes NO RESPONSIBILITY for exhibits left after the removal time deadline. Items not claimed by December 3 , 2018/ 6pm may be disposed of by Fair management. All ribbons and/or premium checks may be forfeited. Any questions arising from premium awards, missing prizes, missing or improperly written checks, or other exhibit matters must be submitted in writing to Fair management prior December 16, 2018. NO EXCEPTIONS.

IMPORTANT AWARD AND PREMIUM CHECK NOTICEAll checks for Fair premium monies shall be deposited by the recipient/payee by March 1, 2018. If the recipient/payee fails to timely deposit said check, all monies due recipient/payee shall belong to the Fair and the recipient/payee shall be deemed to have made an unconditional and irrevocable gift of said monies to the Fair.

RULES 1. Fruit trees, flowers, and ornamental plants must be grown by the exhibitor or have been owned by theexhibitor for at least 90 days, with the exception of rose bushes - 30 days prior to exhibition. 2. Plants not properly labeled cannot be accepted. Exhibitor’s name, botanical name, or common nameand its variety, if known, must appear on the tags at time of entry. 3. All specimens displayed must be clean, free of insects and disease, well groomed, no dead leaves.Containers must be in good condition - cans must be covered. 4. Fair reserves the right to remove from display any exhibit that has deteriorated.5. Limit per exhibitor: three (3) plants.6. 2. Nominations are to be made by teachers, religious leaders, neighbors or counselors based

on service to community, fellow man or the sick and needy. The more nominations for a

student the better. We encourage nominations from many people for one student.

3. NO ESSAYS WRITTEN BY STUDENTS OR PARENTS.

4. The purpose is to honor those teenagers who make Broward County a better place to live.

5. Total winners not to exceed 5.

6. Entry must include name and school of nominee, home address and phone number.

7. Entries must be submitted online by Thursday, November 15, Midnight.

1. All entries must be original. No preprinted or copied materials or kits will be accepted. Avariety of subject matters including “Broward County Fair” as the theme are encouraged. No artwork representing holidays. No Nudity.

2. All entries shown at owner’s risk.

3. No professionals may enter.

4. Entries are limited to one (1) per individual.

5. All two-dimensional entries must be mounted on poster board or matboard and ready to bestapled to panel. No framed work will be accepted. Entries may be matted.

6. No two-dimensional work over 18” x 24” (excluding mounting) will be accepted.

7. All artwork must have been made after the 2017 Fair.

8. The Broward County Fair Art Superintendents have the right to reject any artwork that doesnot adhere to the above rules or represent standards driven curriculum.

CHECK-IN GUIDELINES

1. Turn in judged entry tags to superintendents upon arrival. Display area will then be assigned.

2. Schools will be ASSIGNED 4’x 7’ panels, with a MAXIMUM of 3 panels to any one school.

A 4’ x 7’ panel will accommodate approx. 8 pieces of 12” x 18” artwork or less if a combination of various sizes are displayed. Reserve boards by Nov. 8. Teachers are encouraged to cover display panels.

3. Teacher or school representative must display their own work.

4. Panels will be available for home school entries.

2. NO GROUP/CLASS EXHIBITS ALLOWED - individual entries only.

3. Entry must be the work of the exhibitor.

5. All entries must be labeled with name, age and school ON BACK OF PROJECT.

9. All posters must have been made since the 2017 Fair.

1. Each Elementary School may send one (1) finalist. Middle and High Schools may send two (2) finalists.Schools that combine Elementary, Middle and High Schools may send one (1) finalist from the Elementary level and two (2) finalists from both the Middle and High School levels.

12. No electricity will be supplied.

14. No chemicals, liquids or glass may be displayed.
