With warm regards,
Anita Tillmann
The combination of fashion and technology isn’t merely a small detail that tips the scale for certain brands anymore – it is a trendsetting connection that reflects a worldwide desire. Life without our smartphones has become unthinkable, 4D catwalk shows are a reality, Moorer has created coats that are able to charge your phone, and United Nude has launched the first 3D printed shoes. But these are just some of the many innovations the market has come up with. Our world constantly redefines itself, we redefine ourselves. Standing still is not an option and it actually costs every business more money and reputation than it would to invest into development and innovation.
I would like to invite you to get inspired in the arenas of this year’s PREMIUM and SEEK, to be open to new things as well as welltried traditions, and to use the time you spend on our platforms as productively as possible. Participate in our ‘#Fashiontech Berlin’ Conference on the 21st of January 2015, download our app in order to be navigated smoothly through the tradeshows and get in contact with our motivated team whenever you like.
I wish you a lot of success, great business and many satisfying conversations and a prosperous season. I am looking forward to meeting you.
“OUR WORLD CONSTANTLY REDEFINES ITSELF, WE REDEFINE OURSELVES. STANDING STILL IS NOT AN OPTION …”

Haute couture but wearable, avant-garde but with sensitive structures –
this is how Steinrohner defines its design. Shape and selected textiles take
the wearer away into a parallel world of dreams, fantasy and clear lines.
Originally from Russia and Switzerland, Inna Stein and Caroline Rohner met
at the Berlin Art School in Weißensee. In 2013 they decided to found their
own label together: Steinrohner. With handcrafted techniques they create
fancy silhouettes.

The Spanish designer Guillem Rodríguez, who has already designed a collec-tion with the artist Alba Rihe and exhibited another at Barcelona Fashion Week, was born in Barcelona in 1991. He recognised his weakness for fashion at an early age. “At the age of 16 I came into contact with fashion for the first time”, says the young designer, who has since won prizes such as the Mo-dafad. His collections are characterised by the use of highly technical materials and artistic influences.

Mode und Technologie: Get Connected!
Fashion and Technology: Get Connected!
During the Christmas season 2014, Kovert has celebrated the launch of its first collection – design jewelry that connects to your smartphone via blue tooth. The app allows you to specify which notifications make the jewelry vibrate, meaning you have the possibility to leave your phone in your bag, and concentrate on the task or conversation at hand, without distraction – a collection of smart jewelry that empowers you to take a step away from your smartphone and get back to real life. Fashion and technology united!

D E
BUSINE$$
revolutioniert.
Science fiction has long been a reality. As well as electrical illuminated hand-bags and waistbands, designers are presenting evening dresses in repro-grammable colours or with the capacity to display in-coming tweets in real time. Wearables are merging fashion and technology, creating a mega trend that is revolutionising the fashion world.

PREMIUM MAGAZINN° 8
Auge behalten muss. In Zukunft könnten Smartphones sogar

Technology is getting more and more subtle and
finding its way onto the body in the form of a digital
upgrade: a human-machine utopia coming true.
Smart jewelry such as Ringly informs its wearer
about important new telephone calls, e-mails and
Facebook notifications by vibrating or changing
colour, meaning that the wearer will not need to
keep their smartphone to hand during dates or
meetings. In future, smartphones could even be-
come obsolete.
Wearables have already demonstrated their
potential in the fields of medicine and fitness.
Wrist accessories measure the number of kilome-
tres covered during a run, stress level, performance
and heartbeat. According to the market research
institute BI Intelligence, as many as 300 million
wearables such as fitness armbands, smart glasses
and smart watches could be in circulation by
2018. But accessories such as these are just the
beginning. Young and established fashion desig-
ners are also experimenting with other forms of
wearable technology, from smart street style or
sportswear like snowboard jackets that automa-
tically adapt to the temperature through to pro-
grammable haute couture.
The fusion of technology and fashion sees
high-tech corporations and established fashion
houses going into competition with one another.
At the same time, new collaborations and inter-
disciplinary projects are springing up, like that
of designer Diane von Furstenberg and Google
Glass. Labels that want to profit from the weara-
ble trend will have to combine fashion know-how
with technological expertise. Because the future of
wearables not only depends on how these pieces
look, but how they perform.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
FASHION AND NEW MEDIA
Fashion in the 21st century is a hybrid
of selfexpression, consumer culture,
and art. What we choose to wear not
only reveals a great deal about our
selves, it is also an indication of the direction in
which we are moving as a society. In the early 20th
century, philosopher Walter Benjamin was already
praising fashion’s incomparable capacity for acting
as a sort of cultural seismograph, foreseeing which
new rules and revolutions the future would bring.
One needn’t have clairvoyant powers to reco
gnize which direction fashion commerce is going.
Online stores, fashion blogs, and social networks
are booming. The prevalence and dominance of the
Web 2.0 has forever changed our relationships to
ourselves and the things around us. Mere de cades
ago, active participation in the world of fashion
was reserved for a wellinformed and financially
powerful elite, but today, the newest trends can
be experienced and consumed online in just a few
clicks. The constant online discourse on the theme
of fashion has transformed the consumption of
clothing into a form of personal entertainment on
a level greater than ever before.
So
The widespread digitalization of our world has changed for good the way we consume, present, and experience fashion. The internet has long since superseded the streets as the main showcase for the latest innovative trends. What opportunities does this transition from street style to web style offer the fashion industry?
The classic model of the fashion retailer counts
as one of the losers in this brave new digital world.
Unique, meticulously curated specialty stores can
hardly stand up to innumerous identical, soulless
and cheap outlets that are taking root from Stock
holm to Singapore. It’s a vicious cycle in which
the atrophy of the cities’ downtowns also plays
a part, for the allimportant seeandbeseen
aspect of fashion is increasingly taking part online
as part of selfie culture. The digital revolution is
devouring its children: numerous studies have
shown that constantly being reachable via a digital
tether creates a psychological strain that can lead
to stress and burnout. The only remedy is logging
out, going offline, and leaving the smartphone at
home. Plunge into fashion’s daydream world for
a welcome respite from the pressures of today’s
everyday. So shall it be in the future for a buying
public that has spent most of its life staring at a

Seit seiner Gründung im Jahre 1957 war North
Sails die wohl innovativste Marke in Sachen Segel
herstellung.
Unsere Segelmacher lieben Technologie, Segeln
same Vision entwickelt: hoch innovative Produkte
zu kreieren. North Sails ist stolz darauf, den Launch
von drei neuen Modelinien ankündigen zu kön
nen: North Sails Black, North Sails Deep Blue und
North Sails Ocean Blue. Sie planen außerdem, eine
Kollektion kultiger, saisonunabhängiger Stücke
vorzustellen, die neben den drei neuen Modelinien
auf der PREMIUM Berlin gelauncht werden.
Since its founding in 1957 North Sails has been by
far the most innovative brand in sailmaking. The
label has always been able to combine innovation
with technology and the results are unbeatable
products.
The company is now in a postition to use its
strong performance values on the entire brand’s
width of different products.
Eric Bijlsma, former CEO and managing direc
tor of Scotch & Soda, illustrates this opportunity:
“The sailmakers of North Sails have an ex tra or
dinary set of passions and skills, which will be vi
sible in everything we develop. Our sailmakers are
passionate about technology, they love sailing and
being outside. They are aware of the beauty that
surrounds them and what you can see especially
in the things they make, even in the tiniest little
details. These passions and skills are what cha
racterize the launch of our new apparel lines”, ex
plains North Sails’ new CEO.
After months of hard work by a dedicated
team of sailors, sailmakers, fashion designers and
product developers they are all sharing the same
vision: creating highly innovative products. North
Sails is proud to announce the launch of three brand
new apparel lines: North Sails Black, North Sails
Deep Blue and North Sails Ocean Blue. They also
plan to showcase a range of iconic, nonseasonal
items alongside the three new lines which will be
launched at PREMIUM Berlin.

GRAPHIC 3D WEAVES
E Volume, lightness and transparency are the most important feminine textile terms for Summer 2016. Jacquard weaving will be the most widely used technique for creating full but nonetheless airy 3D textures, although less for colored fabrics and more for graphic and monochromatic patterns.
E Mesh, upholstered fabrics, graphic lasering and neoprene-like materials continue to be a focus, though use of these will be abstracted. Technical fabrics will be chosen for their optic and tactile merits, with function retreating to the background. Double-woven materials are mostly seen in dual colors, and macro prints are sporty and modern.

E Psychedelic, distorted and blurred patterns that create a sense of alienation are the strongest trends in prints. Natural structures and print motifs such as marble, wood, leaves and flowers are drawn with softening, flowing movements or combined with geometric elements.
ABSTRACTED PRINTS
Lebensfreude getankt.
E Pastel colors that are practically white form the basis of a Mediterranean retro feel with subtle, dreamy print patterns. Lace, light gauze and flowing fabrics are the most important components of a quiet romanticism. Expansive, lightly coquettish and elegant silhouettes add a dose of joie de vivre.

WOOD WOODWelche Vision haben Sie von WOOD WOOD
in zehn Jahren?
was man kreiert.
erwarten?
Wir versuchen, unsere Produkte ständig zu

What is your vision ten years from now?
“More collections and more projects.” With this
attitude Wood Wood make it clear that keeping a
brand alive requires not only a lot of work, but also
creativity and commitment. In this spirit, they will
by the end of this January launch a cooperation
with Champion while they are currently collabo-
rating with both Reebok and Adidas.
3000 pictures on Instagram and 50 interna-
tional cooperations. How important is virtual
presence to you and what is the key to success?
Virtual and visual presence are very important,
if you want to share your ideas and brand DNA
with your consumers. Honesty in whatever you
create is crucial to success.
You were one of the first to offer a
twist between collection, shoes
and accessories online. What
can we expect from you

Herpen schufen Sie apokalyptische Schuhe.
mehreren internationalen Top-Designern gleichzeitig zusammenarbeiten.
tragen.

shoes with Iris van Herpen. Who are you hoping to cooperate with next?
We are working on a big collaboration project where we work with several of
the world’s top designers simultaneously.
Are you planning the production of a 3D-printed shoe series?
We have been using 3D-printing for our prototyping since 2001. Now, we
are finally able to make wearable 3D-printed shoes and to launch several
3D-printed shoes with 3D-systems.
What defines the look of a United Nude wearer?

VLADIMIR KARALEEV JIL SANDERTHINK BIGGER!
Er experimentiert mit
Schnitttechniken, nahm
2011 an der Mode Bien-
nale Arnhem teil und
gilt als das Nachwuchs-
talent Deutschlands.
Karaleev in zehn Jahren: „Bigger!“

He experiments with cutting techniques, took
part in the 2011 Arnhem Mode Biennale, and
ranks as one of Germany’s up-and-coming
fashion stars. If Bulgarian-born designer
Vladimir Karaleev had one fashion fetish, it
would be imperfection, and he himself is not
one for rules. When asked why his design pal-
ette has not exceeded six colors since his first
collection, he responded: “That happened
without my intending it. There are so many
possibilities and ideas that if you don’t keep them
under control, there would be chaos.” The deci-
sion to take part in a trade show for the first time
and to present his designs to international buy-
ers sets the course for positioning himself more
solidly in Europe and for attuning his collections
to different markets around the world. “From the
beginning, the Asian market has been our biggest
outlet. In Asia, designer items and showpieces
are in demand, and consumers appreciate the
concept and the idea of a showpiece”, he says.
“In Europe and the U.S., on the other hand, it
comes down to quality, and people want unique
basics.” His vision for the Vladimir Karaleev label

seiner Jacke
abzurufen.
Wir werden eine

jedem Smartphone

Jacken der entsprechenden Körperform
an. „Der Stoff ist flexibel in jeglicher
Hinsicht und daher auch äußerst
angenehm zu tragen.“ Moreno
Faccincani ist davon überzeugt,
dass eine Marke dem Markt ge-
genüber transparent und flexibel sein
muss. Denn wie Puma und G-Star ist
auch Moorer einer der Vorreiter in den
Offenlegungen der Produktionsstät-
ten und macht bereitwillig Angaben zur
Herkunft des Materials. „Jeder Teil unseres
Produktionsprozesses ist transparent. Moorer ist
ein italienisches Produkt und wird von Anfang
bis Ende ausschließlich in Italien hergestellt“,
so der Geschäftsführer.

The Italian fashion label is specialized in women’s and
men’s jackets which they combine with high-tech
material. When asking him if it will soon be possible to
charge your smartphone inside of your jacket, Moorer’s
CEO Moreno Faccincani answers: “Absolutely and
there are also connections installed, which the
wearer can use to get every individual information
about his jacket. We will present an app
that will work on every smartphone.”
Besides that the jacket will always fit per-
fectly to any body shape. “The fabric is
flexible in every direction and therefore very
comfortable for the person who wears it.” Moreno
Faccincani who has
been in charge of
the family business since the 1990s
is convinced that a brand has to be
trans parent and flexible towards the
market. Alongside Puma and
G-Star, Moorer has been a pioneer
label when it comes to trans-
parency regarding its production
facilities or the origins of the
materials it uses. “We are trans-
parent to every part of our
production chain. Moorer is
an Italian product and will be

MOORER SIEGERAußergewöhnl iches Handwerk ist der Kern
von Sieger.
Unusual craftsmanship is what Sieger is a l l about.
ienischen Manufakturen zusammen.“ Haben Gotik, Lanze, Schwert
Casual Look.“

This global fashion powerhouse is a family-run business. How does
this define company culture?
“In the fashion industry, there is a tendency towards short-term
thinking. But a family business lays the foundations for long-term
focus and protects cultural values. It is also characterised by a par-
ticularly high level of trust,” says General Manager Christian Sieger,
who is forging plans for expansion. “Globally, we will certainly be
expanding our activities into the new markets, into China or In-
dia.” The Siegers place particular value on textile because the ma-
terials we wear are a reflection of our souls. “We work exclusively
with German and Italian manufacturers.” The last collection had
a Gothic influence, inspired by spears, swords and myths; the
new Autumn/Winter collection is defined by the legend of King
Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. “The collection is authentic,
with diverse geometric patterns. It leans towards a casual look, which
we find exciting.”
