There have been no changes to last year’s format. Please see pages 5 and 6 for full details of the rules.

Your coloured T-shirts will be provided the morning of the tournament. Boys should wear their school tracksuit bottoms or same coloured tracksuit bottoms if possible for the club sides.

A member of staff from each team will be required to umpire each match that their team plays (attached is a summary of the rules). Score sheets will be provided on the day to be completed by the member of staff. All results and score sheets should be returned to the Main Pavilion to record the result. If you could please register your team at the Main Pavilion 30 minutes before your first game to guarantee a prompt start.

Bedford Prep School will host schools for lunch at 12.40pm. A full roast lunch and refreshments for all boys, staff and supporters will be available in the School Dining Halls. Matches must start again at 1.30pm.

Please can you advise parents and other supporters that they are welcome for lunch in the Dining Halls from 12.40pm. Coffee and other refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

here are 12 teams in the competition and they will be divided into 2 groups of 6. Once the group games have been completed the teams will be divided into 3 further groups. Teams coming 1st or 2nd in their respective pool will qualify for the main competition and go through to the semi final. At this stage the winner of Group 1 will play the runner up of Group 2 leaving the runner up of Group 1 to play the winner of Group 2. The 2 winners of these matches will play in the final for the 6 a-side title. The teams who came 3rd and 4th in their group will play a semi final in the same format as the main competition to reach the final of the plate. The teams who come 5th and 6th in their group will play a semi final in the same format as the main competition to reach the final of the bowl final. With this format all teams will play a minimum of 6 games.

Prizes in the form of a trophy for the main competition and a plate and a bowl for the other competitions plus various individual prizes will be awarded at the Pavilion at 5.15pm.

There will be a full roast lunch available in the Dining Halls from 12.40pm for parents and other supporters. Coffee and other refreshments will also be available throughout the day in the Pavilion.

team with the most hits after six deliveries. If the game is still tied, then there will be a sudden death bowl off with the 7th player bowling first.

Points in the group stages: For a win 10pts, tie 5pts plus 1pt per wicket taken, 1pt per 10 runs scored and for the team batting 2nd if they successfully chase total for every spare full over they receive a point.

If at the end of the group stages 2 teams are on the same points then the team that won the match between the 2 sides will be awarded the higher position. If there are more than 2 teams on the same points then there will be a sudden death bowl off between the sides.

Wide: There will be a guide line on both sides to use to en-sure consistency with wides. A wide counts as 1 run and an extra ball. As long as the ball passes between these lines on either side it is not a wide.

No ball: All no balls counts as 1 run and an extra ball which will be a free hit.

In all other cases, normal cricket rules apply.

The Rules Of The Competition Each innings shall be a maximum of 5 overs per side.

Teams shall be of 6 players. 1 player must act as wicket keeper for the full 5 overs (unless there is an injury).

A super sub can be used between innings.

Each squad shall consist of a maximum of 7 players.

All players should be under 11 at 1st September 2012.

Each bowler is allowed a maximum of 1 over per match.

The wicketkeeper and batsmen must wear full protective equipment according to the ECB directives.

An 11 yard circle around the striking batsman is out of bounds to any fielder before the ball touches any part of the batsman, his clothing or his bat, or, the ball passes the batsman.

A junior 4¾ oz pink cricket ball will be used for all matches.

The team continues to bat until either 5 wickets have been taken, or 5 overs are completed.

To Win: The winning side will be the side that has scored the most runs in 5 overs. In the event of a tie during the group stages both teams will receive 5 points. In the event of a tie in knockout stage there will be a bowl off to decide the winning team. The bowl off will consist of 6 members of the squad bowling one ball each at a set of stumps (with a legal over-arm action). The winning team will be the
