2004 Molybdenum I 5600 Preparation and Characterization of 6-Molybdocobaltate and 6-Molybdoalumi- nate Cobalt Salts. Evidence of a New Heteropolymolybdate Structure. — Single crystals of [Co 2+ (H2O)5](H3O + )[MMo6(OH)6O18] 3- ·6H2O (M: Co, Al) are synthesized by cationic exchanges in aqueous solutions of the counterions of the starting )3[MMo6(OH)6O18] salts at 50 °C for 2 h. The samples are characterized by TGA, XRD, EXAFS, and IR and Raman spectroscopy. Both compounds crystallize in the or- thorhombic space group Pcab with Z = 8.
