MolybdenumI 5600 Preparation and Characterization of 6-Molybdocobaltate and 6-Molybdoalumi-
nate Cobalt Salts. Evidence of a New Heteropolymolybdate Structure. Single crystals of [Co2+(H2O)5](H3O+)[MMo6(OH)6O18]3- 6H2O (M: Co, Al) are synthesized by cationic exchanges in aqueous solutions of the counterions of the starting
)3[MMo6(OH)6O18] salts at 50 C for 2 h. The samples are characterized by TGA, XRD, EXAFS, and IR and Raman spectroscopy. Both compounds crystallize in the or-thorhombic space group Pcab with Z = 8. Evidence is provided for the formation of new heteropolyoxomolybdates derived from the well known Anderson structure.
