WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?

• No need to panic!

• There will be changes to the committee draft standard

• Don’t do anything just yet

• Monitor the changes

• Keep in touch with your certification body

• Unique opportunity to integrate with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

system being updated in 2015

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?

• Depends on the organisation’s current status

• If currently close to certification to OHSAS 18001 continue

as certification bodies will issue OHSAS 18001 certificates

until 2016

• If in the early stages consider modelling system on ISO DIS

45001

• A system meeting the requirements of ISO DIS 45001 will

meet OHSAS 18001

Page 19: Preparation for ISO 45001 OH&S Management Systems

• If currently certified to OHSAS 18001 there will be

substantial changes to management system

• It may be useful to carry out a gap analysis against the

requirements of ISO 45001:2016

• Align documentation with ISO 45001 requirements

• Update the OH&S policy

• May need to update manual and procedures

• Training of Internal auditors and other key personnel on new

standard

• Transition period likely to be 2 to 3 years

• Transition guidance documents will be developed by

certification bodies
