Great! I just finished my seminar about preparing for winter.

What did you learn about that?

Well, for one thing, we need to clean our gutters before winter arrives.

We plan to do that this weekend.

Good for you, but what about your downspouts? You need to make sure that they are in good working order, too.

Right. At the moment they are pointing down. Not good, eh?

No. They should be pointing away from the house, so that rain water doesn’t collect near the base of your home.

That makes sense. So, was this seminar only about getting your house ready for winter?

No, it also covered winterizing your car and family!

You can winterize your family? How is that?Well, winter can make us feel isolated. This can lead to depression.

Ok, I see what you’re saying. Are there things we can do to prevent this?

Absolutely! We learned about how getting enough exercise and eating right can keep us happy and healthy all winter long.

Good to know this. Sometimes I feel lethargic in the winter.

This is very common. I can tell you what I learned about the best way to avoid this.

That sounds great. I’ll be right over. While I am there I will help you turn off your exterior faucet and check you sump pump.

It is always a good idea to use winter tires as soon as the temperature drops to around 7 Celsius.
