Making a decisions about work

Choosing a career is an important decision. It will affect the amount of money you get. Also it would affect the amount of satisfaction will get from work and life. A Full – time job requires at least 40 hours per week. 2000 hours per year, that is the amount of time you will spent in your job. So choose a job that you enjoy.

Job and careers

Work is an essential part to everyone’s economic and social well – being. A job occupation is work that people engage in to earn pay. And a career is a work history of one or more jobs in the same or related fields of interest. Each occupation in a career builds on interest, knowledge, training, and experience from other jobs.

Perusing a career requires a career planner. This is the assisting of your potential, analyzing your options, and preparing from future.

Self – awareness

Before noticing anything career, you should note what your interests are. Knowing your self is the key part of your journey into the working world. Who are you? What do you value the most? Those question can help you start your path.

Your interests

This are your favorite activities. First make a list f interests. What are your favorite things to do? What school subjects do you enjoy? What type of films or book do you enjoy? You can notice some patterns. From that information you can decide what you enjoy doing may involve the work.

Most of the people who enjoy working with people, they can easily became a professional that spends many time with people. Like a doctor, nurse, teacher etc. But maybe you enjoy the technology stuff, so you can became a informatics or a technician. Or you like reading and the library, or spending a time alone, you can easily be lawyer. You can see how your personality affects your working choice.

Your skills, aptitudes, abilities, and personality

Once you have an idea of your values and interests. You should start considering your aptitudes, abilities, skills, and personality.

A skill is a performing task that is developed through training and experience. An ability is a natural skill or talent. And aptitude is your potential for learning skill. Personality is the set of characteristics that make someone special. It’s the sum of your feelings, actions, habits and thoughts.

Your values

Values are what you believe important. They are also beliefs or ideas. Your values always help you in many decisions, like your friends or work. Your work values help you understand what is important to you. Understanding your works values may help you understand what career is the best for you.

Finding information on careers

After you identify your potential careers, its time to some research. The information you gather will enable you to point the right career and develop a career plan.

Written Sources and Career Counselors

There is a lot of written information about careers at libraries and on the internet. OOH, the Occupational Outlook Handbook, describes a hundreds of jobs.

A career counselors is someone who is trained to provide information and guidance on choosing a career. Also he or she can help you learn about your interests or abilities.

Networks Another way of getting information is by networking. This is the practice of building informal relationships with people whose friendships could bring some advantages of Jobs.

Work

The best way to learn about a career is to work. New workers always benefit from job shadowing, tis involves following another worker in the job for few days. Another options are internships, this is a temporary paid or unpaid position that involves work experience in a career field. Also you can consider volunteerism, or working without pay.

Career Ladder A career ladder is a series of different jobs within a career. You might start with a entry-level job, this is when a worker is new at the job, field, or subject. Then you might improving your skills and responsibilities which help you to succeed by climbing the career ladder.

Outsourcing Many firms all around the world outsource with other countries. Outsourcing is using outside sources to do tasks traditionally handed by internal staff.

THE ROLE OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND

Many people think that supply and demand affect only prices they pay for goods and services. However they also affect the job market. If there are more qualified workers in the openings for a job, is more difficult for a new worker to get the position. People who really develop a good career plan could get the job.

In this list you identify and select your current courses, activities, and experiences that are related to your career goal.

Education and Training plan:

Detail the education or training you will need after high school. Be specific.

Experience plan:

Note experiences that will lead to your specific career choice. Include internships and volunteer part-time and temporary goals.

Set your Goals:

Determine your all types of goals. Chart your goals in chronological time. Think when you might start and complete each of one.

Making a Career PlanMaking a career plan takes effort. You can create one based on your career choices. It’s a good way to prepare for future career decisions.

Before you reach your career goal, you must first set and reach other goals. Goals can be short, medium or long term. When you are setting goals, be specific. Specific goals are easier to aim and achieve.

It tells an employer what you can offer as a worker. Its purpose is to persuade potential employers to interview you. Some people also list their hobbies on their resume to provide an indication of their personal interests. Your resume gives an employer his or her first impression about you.

There are different types of resume. One of the most important are the chronological resume, this list your achievements in time order. In five parts:

The first part of the resume is the heading. The heading contains your name and contact information. The second part, the job objective, is a statement about the type of job you want. The third part, the skills summary, includes job-specific skills and transferable skills. The fourth part, the work experience section, lists of jobs you have done. The fifth part the education section, list the name and location of each school, and the date you finished r the date you will finish.

The Job Application Is a printed sheet with blank spaces that you fill in to apply for a job. You send this to a potential employer.

Employment Testing This is the test to see if you have the required skills. For example truck drivers need to have a driving exam before getting the job.
