HEALTH DISPARITIES IN MISSOURI
The 2012 unemployment rate for AA us 12.9%, compared to 7.6% for all Missourians
Over 30% of AA live in poverty, compared to 15.8% for all Missourians
AA mothers with less than high school education is 23.7% compared to white mothers 15.1%.
Births to mothers receiving Medicaid in Missouri (AA 76% versus 40.5% for White mothers)
The rate of AA mothers (30.6%)with inadequate prenatal care is more than double the rate for white mothers (14%).
The obesity rate for Missouri’s AA mothers (30.2%) was a third higher than the rate for white mothers (22.5%).
