remember your tips!
Tip 1: Be Prepared
• Get a good nights rest the night before.
• Have a good breakfast the morning of the test.
• Dress in comfortable clothes on test day.
Tip 2: Reframe Your Thinking
Its important to believe in yourself and use positive self-talk!
Think “I can do it”
“I am ready for the test.”“I’m smart”
Tip 3: Stop, Look, and Listen
Once you get your test remember to stop, look and listen.
• Stop and have still bodies.
• Look at the teacher.
• Listen to the directions.
Tip 4: No Fear!
On test day stay calm and relax.
• Do not be afraid!
• Relax
• Take some deep breaths
• Try hard!
• Do your best!
Tip 5: Plug It In, Plug It In!
Read each of the multiple choice answers to fill in the blank. Some won’t make sense, this will help you narrow the choices down.
Once you have chosen your answer, plug it in and make sure that it makes sense! (this works really well with vocabulary questions).
Tip 6: Jail the Detail
Highlight, underline, or circle the details in the questions. This helps you focus on exactly what the question is asking you to do.
What are some strategies your teachers have been teaching you?
Mr. Detail
Tip 7: Slash the Trash
Read ALL of the answer choices! Eliminate any choice(s) that you know are not the correct answer. Put them in the trash and pick the answer that is left over.
Awesome Answer Eliminator Tool
Tip 8: Zap the Maps
Not sure how many maps will be on PARCC, but you see them on tests in school!
Be smart with charts! Charts and Maps provide
information that you can use to answer questions! Analyze ALL information provided before answering the questions!
Tip 9: Pace Yourself
You will be given enough time to take the test.
You need to pace yourselves. (This means do not rush through the test.)
Watch the time and make sure you are not going too slow as well.
Don’t worry if you are the last one done.
Tip 10: Check it Out!
When you have completed the test, go back and check your work!
Look it over carefully PARCC allows you to Review questions! There is no reason to skip over. If you are unsure, Flag the question and
come back later.
