Games. Friends. Water. Sun. Food. Family. Free shirts. Team 9’s first annual fun day was a “fun-tastic” time for all who attended. Children running, jumping, laughing, adults visiting, expanding, relaxing...what a great day! Saturday August 10th at the Morrin Campground was the perfect choice with sun, space and location. Those attending weren’t sure what was better-watching the kids fly from one activity to the next, slurpees and hot dogs in hand, or participating in their own way and enjoying the freedom to relax and spend time with family and Team 9 friends. Watching the reactionary misses-and hits in the dunk tank, taking on the competition in the “sumo suits” on the mats, jumping, eat-
ing, and spinning in circles (literally for some), was an entertaining time. And from those who at-tended -to Hi-Way 9: It was a great afternoon. Thank-you. For anyone who missed this great event-stay tuned for next year's day. It’s only going to get bigger and better.

CORAL MARTYN Scanning, Highway Dispatch, Rates -Team 9 Calgary Coral is a special kind of TEAMMATE with the “Yes and Can” attitude that makes TEAM 9 Members take note. Her positive outlook and fantastic attitude towards learning new aspects of our great company is second to none. Coral in the past months has taken steps to learn and cover Highway dispatch allowing her team-mates to go on vacation and know the JOB will get done properly and our customers will get the same great service. Coral has also recently taken more steps to learn and begin a career in the Hi-Way 9 rates department-all this while she also was forced from her home by the waters this summer. Coral was part of the recent events in High River which may have taken her home but not for one second broke her spirit, along with her coverage of the Highway and
training in rates. Coral is also organizing relief items for the others affected in her town. She is a true inspiration to our TEAM and her willingness to find the good and search out ways to help makes even the tough guys well up with emotion at her tire-less efforts. Coral, your positive and endless smile are something we can all learn and grow from. We appreciate all that you are and all that you do for our TEAM.

This month Team 9 is going to extend our focus on load securement. We have had some more issues with trucks leaving the yard with out proper securement. Don’t forget!!! –CHECK YOUR LOAD-DON’T LEAVE THE YARD WITHOUT A LOAD BAR. It is the Team’s responsibility to protect the customers’ freight as well as the public against shifting product, which ends up with tossed around or crushing of product due to improper securement. Our customers expect that Team 9 handles their goods in a professional way. And it’s the first thing the authorities check at the scales, and Team 9’s biggest cause of CVSA violations. Team 9-you can do this!...if you’re a dock person, don’t let the load go without a load bar, if you’re a driver, don’t go without a load bar… What should be remembered? A LOAD BAR!
Congratulations to these Team 9 members for your notable milestone! Your care and commitment are commendable.

Are YOU using the right equipment? Using the proper equipment to handle freight is key to ensuring the freight moves damage free and without claims. When picking up freight a power tailgate allows the driver to move the freight up into his truck safely. A pallet jack helps move heavy pallets between the front and the back of the trailer as well as from the truck to the customer’s receiving area with-out dragging the product across the floor or ground. Keeping it dry and clean. Loading bars and straps are also key to keeping the freight se-cured while transporting. When using straps and load bars this prevents the freight from falling over, rubbing or crushing over freight in the trailer. Fork lifts and power jacks are another essential piece of equip-ment used everyday by drivers and dock staff to move freight that is too heavy to move by hand. Shrink wrap! For more than just sandwiches (LOL). Pallets that have several boxes should have the them neatly stacked and
shrink wrapped. This keeps everything together so nothing falls off or goes missing. Not to be over-looked, a co-worker. Some freight needs a extra hand. Don’t hesitate to ask for help when moving a piece that needs a extra set of eyes to guide or hands to stabilize.

Floyd Desrosiers–Calgary-There was a piece of glass picked up from a customer that was not properly prepared for transport. You noted this on the front of the BOL saving us from a claim. Great job! Your attention to detail was awe-some and saved us from paying a claim that we were not responsible for. Keep up the great work! Anthony Wilson–Red Deer-Every day Anthony covers dis-patch for me while I am on lunch. He keeps everything in- tact and organized. When I come back everything is running smoothly and I can pick up where he left off. Anthony, thanks for all you do in a day for us in the office. It helps us out tons! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Kay Blair–Streamline Edmonton-When I called this morn-ing you sounded super positive! By changing your hours up a bit in order to get your paperwork started you have dra-matically decreased the email demand for information. Way to go! Lorne Brathwaite–Medicine Hat-Lorne is always at work on time, with a smile on his face and ready to work. He has turned the Redcliff run into his own. He is a true team player. In a truck, on the dock, in the garage or at a
desk...Team 9 has pride in their work, their equip-
ment, and their personal appearance. Without this
pride they would be just another trucking company.
But because of this character, Team 9 portrays them-
selves as a company that will not only care about
details internally, most importantly, they care about
our customers and their freight. The two walk hand-
in-hand.
Dave Gerula of Streamline Calgary is one such
Team 9 member-proud of his unit, his appearance
and the company he works for. Thank-you, Dave!
You are this month’s winner for “Pride” Recogni-
tion.
Tony Adams –Medicine Hat-You are always doing a thor-ough pre/post trip and report any defects that you find right away. Thanks for making safety a culture for yourself. It is greatly appreciated.
Cody Thornborough –Drumheller-You have been helping cover a customer for a few weeks now, working long hours and doing a great job. Although you are a new class 1 driver you are doing great, moving quickly and taking the proper steps to ensure safe operation of your unit. Thank-you. Great job! Nick Werner -Camrose-This morning the body job driver showed up late and you stepped in and got the deliveries done so the customers stayed happy. Thank-you for being such a great team player!! Konlee Pipke –Drayton Valley-A customer called remark-ing on how polite and helpful you are. He is switching freight companies due to the service you gave him. Well Done!! These are great calls to get. Providing our customer with a WOWing experience is what we strive for.
