The Minnesota Vikings (1-2) will close out the 2008 preseason against the Dallas Cowboys (1-2) this Thursday, August 28. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. (CT) at Texas Stadium. This will be the 10th time Minnesota has met Dallas in the preseason, with the Vikings holding the overall edge 5-3-1. The last time the two teams faced off in preseason action was last year at the HHH Metrodome, a game the Vikings won 23-14.

The fi rst game in Vikings history, a 38-13 preseason loss to the Cowboys, was at Sioux Falls, SD, on August 5, 1961. The Vikings open the 2008 regular season on Monday Night Football at the Green Bay Packers on September 8 while the Cowboys begin at Cleveland on Sunday, September 7.

The last time the Vikings and Cowboys met during the regular sea-son was on October 21, 2007, at Texas Stadium, a game the Cowboys won 24-14. Offensively the Vikings were led on the ground by RBs Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor. Rushing 12 times for 63 yards and a touchdown, Peterson led all running backs on the day with a 5.3 yards-per-carry average. Taylor fi nished with a 4.7 average after carrying 10 times for 47 yards. In the passing game, QB Tarvaris Jackson struggled against the Cowboys defense, completing 6 of 19 passes for 72 yards and no touch-downs. Without much going offensively, the Vikings relied on the defense to score points. In the second quarter LB Ben Leber picked up a fumble caused by CB Antoine Winfi eld and returned it 10 yards before lat-eraling to CB Cedric Griffi n, who returned the ball nine yards before fumbling it himself. Griffi n recovered his own fumble and scampered the remaining 28 yards for the touchdown, giving the Vikings a 14-7 lead heading into halftime. LB E.J. Henderson led the Vikings with 11 tackles, while CB An-toine Winfi eld collected 9 and LB Chad Greenway 8.

LAST WEEK Last week in their third game of the 2008 preseason, the Vikings played host to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a battle of two of the top de-fenses in the National Football League, the Steelers edged the Vikings 12-10 on a last second fi eld goal.

Vikings Offense In a game where the starters traditionally play the most minutes of the preseason, the Vikings saw three of their starting skill players on the sideline due to minor nicks and an illness. QB Tarvaris Jackson (knee), WR Bernard Berrian (toe), and WR Sidney Rice (stomach virus) all sat out. Filling in for Jackson was backup QB Gus Frerotte. Frerotte fi n-ished the night completing 68% of his passes, going 13 of 19. Frerotte’s best effort came on a 25-yard hook-up with TE Visanthe Shiancoe (2 catches for 36 yards) that brought the Vikings down to the Pittsburgh 3-yard line. Three plays later RB Adrian Peterson would cap the drive off with a 1-yard touchdown run, his fi rst touchdown of the preseason. Second-year WR Aundrae Allison had his best performance of the preseason, leading all Vikings receivers with 5 catches for 56 yards.Rookie QB (5th round, 137 overall) John David Booty also had his best performance thus far in 2008, completing 4-of-5 passing attempts for 19 yards and a solid 82.5 quarterback rating.

Vikings Defense After only allowing 15 points in their second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Vikings defense improved upon that performance by surrendering only 12 points against the Steelers. All of Pittsburgh’s points came off of fi eld goals as the Vikings red-zone de-fense was air-tight. Starting LBs Chad Greenway and E.J. Henderson led the way for the Vikings defense with fi ve tackles apiece. E.J.’s younger brother, LB Erin Henderson, continuing to impress, also had fi ve tackles, making it the third week in a row that he has at least tied for the team lead. The Vikings pass rush picked up where it left off, following up a 5-sack performance against Baltimore with a 3-sack affair. DT Kevin Williams, DE Ray Edwards and LB David Herron hauled down the Steelers’ quarterbacks. The Viking’s starters also dominated the line of scrimmage in the run game, allowing Willie Parker and the Steelers’ top unit only 18 yards on the ground. DT Pat Williams and E.J. Henderson both dragged Parker down in the backfi eld. DE Otis Grigsby and Erin Henderson also recorded tackles for losses for the Vikings second unit. Returning to their 2007 form where the Vikings ranked 6th in the NFL with 22 forced fumbles, both Kevin Williams and Erin Henderson forced fumbles on Steelers fi rst-round draft choice Rashard Mendenhall. The fumbles were recovered by rookie safeties Husain Abdullah and Tyrell Johnson.

Vikings Special Teams For the third week in a row the Vikings special teams unit looked sound. In his fi rst action of the 2008 preseason K Ryan Longwell con-verted his only fi eld goal attempt, a 37-yard kick. P Chris Kluwe aver-aged 48.6 yards per kick with a net of 43.4 yards. Vikings specialists pinned the Steelers inside their own 20 yard-line once and forced the Steelers to an average starting position of their own 22 yard-line. KR Maurice Hicks had a solid game returning the ball with three kickoff returns for 67 yards.

He originally spent the 2006 training camp with the Buffalo Bills before

being released and signed to the Vikings practice squad. He was even-tually added to the active roster that year and made his fi rst start and played in his fi rst career game vs. St. Louis (12/31/06). He hauled in a career-high 4 receptions for 33 yards in the game.

team built on his principles for winning football. Childress’ squad features strong play along both lines, a dynamic running game and an opportunistic defense. A bevy of top-fl ight linemen have been important to developing the identity of the Vikings and are now being complimented by emerging playmakers. The offseason addition of 2007 NFL sack leader and All-Pro DE Jared Allen via trade with Kansas City along with free agent starters WR Bernard Berrian, FB Thomas Tapeh, and S Madieu Williams fi lled key positions with veteran playmakers. With Allen, the Vikings now have 5 Pro Bowlers along the offensive and defensive lines and 8 members of the 2007 Pro Bowl squad. Coupled with a pair of proven 1,000-yard runners in the backfi eld and an aggressive defense with a nose for the ball, the Vikings enter 2008 with a strong nucleus of experienced talent. Since taking over the team in 2006, Childress has placed a premium on playing smart football, minimizing mistakes and winning the line of scrimmage. The 2007 Vikings became the 1st team in franchise history to rank #1 in the NFL in rushing offense and rushing defense. The duos of G Steve Hutchinson and C Matt Birk on offense joined by DTs Kevin Williams and Pat Williams on defense all made second consecutive Pro Bowl trips in 2007. The Vikings offense set franchise records by rushing for 2,634 yards (164.6 yards per game) with rookie phenom Adrian Peterson leading the way with an NFC-best 1,341 yards. Peterson’s total ranked as the 2nd-highest in team history, and his 5.6 yards-per-carry average ranked 2nd-best in the NFL. Fellow RB Chester Taylor, coming off his fi rst 1,000-yard rushing season in 2006, fi nished with 844 yards and 7 TDs on 157 carries. Together Peterson and Taylor accounted for 2,185 of the team’s rushing total, giving the Vikings the most dangerous rushing tandem in team history in terms of yardage. Second-year QB Tarvaris Jackson showed signifi cant improvement from year one as he threw for 1,911 yards and 9 TDs while rushing for 260 yards and 3 scores despite missing 4 games due to injury. He fi nished the season 8-4 as a starter. Defensively, the Williams tandem shut down the run better than anyone in the NFL, and the Vikings posted the #1 rush defense for the 2nd straight year. Over the past 2 seasons, the team has stifl ed opponents by allowing 67.9 yards per game, 2.9 yards per carry and 0.5 rushing TDs per game in those 32 games. Behind the rugged DTs, the Vikings have an emerging trio of linebackers who have a knack for the big play and ball-hawking defensive backs. The 2007 squad tied a francise record by scoring 6 TDs on interception returns and 2 more on fumble returns. The Vikings’ 13 defensive TDs (9 INTs, 4 FRs) since 2006 lead the NFL and are 5 more than the runner-up Packers’ 8. On special teams, the Vikings ranked 4th in the NFL with a 24.8 kickoff return average and 6th in the NFL as they held opponents to an average starting fi eld position just beyond the 26-yard line (26.2). Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell enters his 3rd season with the Vikings with 2 Pro Bowlers along the offensive line, the 2007 NFC-leading rusher in the backfi eld, a more experienced quarterback and a new playmaking wide receiver. In 2007, Bevell helped put together the best rushing attack in the NFL as the Vikings averaged 164.6 yards per game and 5.3 yards per carry. Their 2,634 rushing yards

was the highest total in team history while their 22 rushing touchdowns ranked tied for 2nd. The Vikings were led by the rushing tandem of rookie RB Adrian Peterson and RB Chester Taylor, who amassed a combined 2,185 yards on the ground, shattering Daunte Culpepper and Robert Smith’s previous highest rushing total by a tandem of 1,991 yards in 2000. Against San Diego, Peterson broke the NFL single-game rushing record when he gained 296 yards on the ground. The Vikings also sent 4 players from the offensive side of the ball - Birk, Hutchinson, Peterson, and FB Tony Richardson - to the 2008 Pro Bowl. This offseason, Bevell’s offense saw the addition of deep threat WR Bernard Berrian, FB Thomas Tapeh and RB Maurice Hicks.

Asst. Head Coach/Def. Coord. Leslie Frazier On the defensive side of the ball, Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier will begin his 2nd season with the Vikings and his 9th season in the NFL. In his fi rst year with Minnesota, Frazier led the team to its 2nd-consecutive #1 ranking against the run, holding opponents to 74.1 yards per game on the ground. The team notched 8 defensive touchdowns and led the league with 6 interceptions returned for scores. The Vikings

tied for 9th with 31 takeaways and tied a team record for the most defensive points scored in a season with 50 (8 touchdowns, 1 safety). Prior to joining the Vikings, Frazier won a Super Bowl in 2006 as a member of the Indianapolis Colts’ staff, coaching defensive backs and serving as a special assistant to Tony Dungy. During that championship season, the Colts’ defense posted 13 takeaways in the playoffs and allowed only 2 second-half TDs in the 4 postseason games. During the 2008 offseason, Frazier saw his unit add key pieces at defensive end with the trade for Jared Allen, who led the NFL with 15.5 sacks in 2007, and at safety with the signing of free agent Madieu Williams. Frazier now has 3 Pro Bowlers along the defensive line and 4 members of the 2007 Pro Bowl squad.

Special Teams Coordinator Paul Ferraro The 2008 season marks Paul Ferraro’s 3rd as the Vikings Special Teams Coordinator, his 4th season of NFL coaching and his 27th season of coaching overall. Ferraro’s 2007 special teams units, the core of which have returned in 2008, were some of the most successful in team history. The 2007 squad set team records for kickoff return average, the longest kickoff return in team history, the most punts landed inside the 20, and the most 50+

yard punts. The team also converted a pair of onside kicks. Leading the way on special teams in 2007 was LB Heath Farwell, who topped the team in special teams tackles for the 2nd straight season, was voted by his teammates as the Special Teams MVP and was recognized as a Pro Bowl alternate. The Vikings ranked 4th overall in the NFL with a 24.8 kickoff return average, which also ranked as the highest return average in team history, and 6th in the NFL as they held opponents to an average starting fi eld position just beyond the 26-yard line (26.2). WR Aundrae Allison ranked #1 in the NFC and #3 in the NFL with an average of 28.7 yards per kickoff return, while Kluwe shattered his record of 28 punts inside the 20, as he landed 34.

The Vikings sent 7 players to the Pro Bowl in 2007 - RB Adrian Peterson, FB Tony Richardson, G Steve Hutchinson, C Matt Birk, DT Kevin Williams, DT Pat Williams and S Darren Sharper. Only 3 teams - Dallas, New England and San Diego - had more nominations. Vikings rookie RB Adrian Peterson became only the 2nd rookie running back in Vikings history and the 8th Vikings RB to be named to the Pro Bowl. Peterson joined only Chuck Foreman in 1973 as rookie running backs to be recognized. Peterson was the 1st Vikings rookie since Randy Moss in 1998 to go to the Pro Bowl after leading the NFC in rushing with 1,341 yards and tying for 2nd in the NFL in rushing TDs with 12. He fi nished the the all-star game as the MVP. Paving the way for Peterson’s record-breaking season were G Steve Hutchinson and C Matt Birk, who appeared in their 5th and 6th Pro Bowls respectively. Birk’s 6th berth in the game tied Vikings legend Mick Tingelhoff for most Pro Bowls by a Vikings center. The only offensive linemen with more Pro Bowl honors as Vikings than Birk and Tingelhoff are Randall McDaniel (11) and Ron Yary (7). Hutchinson made his 5th consecutive Pro Bowl berth and 2nd in as many seasons as a Viking. The anchors of the Vikings line helped set team rushing records, including the most rushing yards by a tandem with Peterson and Chester Taylor’s 2,158 combined yards. Former Vikings FB Tony Richardson made his 3rd appearance in the Pro Bowl, having earned trips after the 2003 and 2004 seasons with Kansas City. Richardson and the linemen helped tie a team record with 8 games featuring a 100-yard rusher. Vikings DTs Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, the anchors of the NFL’s #1-ranked run defense, made return trips to the Pro Bowl for the 2nd straight season. Kevin Williams made his 3rd Pro Bowl appearance in his 5 NFL seasons, following up on trips in 2004 and 2006. Pat Williams, in his 3rd season as a Viking and 11th in the NFL, made his 2nd trip to Hawaii. The DT marked only the 2nd time in team history that a pair of DTs made consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl, joining Gary Larsen and Alan Page in 1969 and 1970. Vikings S Darren Sharper returned to Hawaii for the 2nd time as a Viking and the 4th time in his 11-year career. Despite missing 2 games in the middle of the 2007 season with a knee injury, Vikings 1st-round draft pick RB Adrian Peterson fi nished 1st in the NFC and 2nd in the NFL with 1,341 rushing yards on 238 carries. Peterson’s rush-ing total fell only 133 yards short of San Diego RB LaDainian Tomlinson, who rushed for 1,474 yards on 315 carries, even though Peterson car-ried the ball 77 fewer times. Peterson’s 5.6-yards-per-carry average also ranked 2nd in the league

and was the highest average in Vikings’ history, and his 12 rushing TDs ranked tied for 2nd in the NFL. In Week 9 vs. San Diego, Peterson set an NFL record for the most rushing yards in a single game when he broke loose for 296 yards on the ground against the Chargers. He also tied a team record with his 3 rushing TDs, only the 11th time it had happened in team history, with the last time coming at Chicago earlier this season as Peterson rushed for 224 yards and 3 TDs. Peterson exploded on to the NFL scene in the 2007 opener against Atlanta when he rushed 19 times for 103 yards and turned a screen play into a 60-yard touchdown. In Week 9 vs. San Diego, Peterson broke the NFL record for the most rushing yards in a single game when he rushed for 296 yards and 3 scores against the Chargers. That perfor-mance shattered his previous record-setting feat three weeks earlier at Chicago when he broke the Vikings record for rushing yards in a single game with 224; the previous record was held by Chuck Foreman (200). RB Adrian Peterson was honored as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month in both September and October of 2007, making him the fi rst rookie in the NFL to win the award in back-to-back months since Giants TE Jeremy Shockey and Colts DE Dwight Freeney earned the honor in November and December of 2002. Peterson became only the 4th Vikings player to win the award and the 1st offensive player since 1998 to be selected for the award. Peterson’s month of October included his performance at Chicago (10/14/07) when he set a new team rushing record with 224 yards on the ground, had 361 combined yards (224 rushing, 9 receiving, 128 kickoff returns), tied a team record with 3 rushing TDs and became the fi rst Vi-kings player with 2 rushes of 50+ yards in a game. He fi nished the month with 357 yards rushing on 52 carries (6.9 avg.) and 4 TDs. Peterson’s record-breaking debut month in September included an NFC-best 383 rushing yards and NFC-leading 549 yards from scrimmage. During that time, Peterson matched a Vikings’ record for most 100-yard rushing games by a rookie with 3, the same total Chuck Foreman had in 1973 en route to being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. In September, Peterson averaged 137.2 yards per game from scrimmage with 549 combined rushing and receiving yards.

Punting 5 times for 190 yards (38.0 avg), Kluwe gave the Fal-cons starting fi eld position at their own 11, 10, 3, 19 and 12 yard lines.

Leaving opponents inside the 20 is familiar territory for Kluwe, as he tied a team record in 2006 for the most punts inside the 20 with 28. That total surpassed his total of 17 from the 2005 season and ranked 2nd in the NFC. Kluwe also tied the team record in 2006 for the most 50+ yard punts in a season with 22. “YOU MADE THE TEAM” COMMUNITY TOUR The Vikings “You Made The Team” community tour, which is designed to connect with Vikings fans, community partners and local leaders while providing an update on the excitement of Vikings’ football, will continue during the 2008 season. The tour began in 2007 and after kicking off in Mankato during train-ing camp, made stops in Willmar, Red Wing, Rochester, Fergus Falls, Grand Rapids and St. Cloud during the ‘07 season. Visits included an assembly at an elementary/junior high school to encourage children to be physically active followed by a luncheon with community and busi-ness leaders to talk about the Vikings passion for giving back as well as to give an insider’s view on the 2007 season. Appearances included WR Bobby Wade, Vikings Owner/Chairman Zygi Wilf, Owner/President Mark Wilf, former Vikings Bob Lurtsema and Pete Bercich and Vikings play-by-play announcer Paul Allen. Vikings Cheerleaders, Viktor the Viking, and American Heart Association representa-tives also took part in the tour. In the spring of 2008, the Vikings made stops in Brainerd with RB Adrian Peterson and Zygi Wilf, and in Fargo/Moorhead with DE Jared Allen and Mark Wilf.

BIRK NAMED MAN OF THE YEAR For the 6th consecutive year in 2007, C Matt Birk was named the “Vikings Man of the Year” for his efforts in the Minneapolis community. Since starting his own HIKE foundation in 2002, Birk has raised over $450,000 for interactive programming and education assistance. He is also the team spokesperson for United Way and has taken part in count-less school and hospital visits and generously supports his teammates’ community initiatives as well.

KFAN-AM radio mid-day personality Paul Allen enters his 7th season as the Vikings radio play-by-play voice in 2008. Joining him in the booth for the 2nd year is former Vikings LB and coach Pete Bercich, while former Vikings punter Greg Coleman will serve as the sideline reporter. VIKINGS ALL-TIME COACHES


STADIUM UPDATE As committed as the Vikings are to bringing a Super Bowl cham-pionship to the fans and to the state, the franchise is equally devoted to securing a long-term home for the team in Minnesota. The Vikings are one of the few NFL franchises without a stadium solution but remain determined to collaborate with the State Legislature, the Governor and local leaders to resolve this issue. With the team’s Metrodome lease set to expire in 2011 and costs increasing $50 million with each year of delay, 2009 is the critical year to preserve the long-term viability of the Vikings in Minnesota. Working with the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission (MSFC), the Vikings are moving forward on a public-private partnership that will open a new, multi-purpose stadium on the current Metrodome site in the year 2012. The two sides will present this stadium develop-ment plan to the 2009 Legislature for consideration. The joint proposal will include specifi c stadium design and program elements, a fi nance plan and principles of agreement on how the new facility will be operated and governed, all crucial topics for state leaders to analyze as they work to reach a stadium solution in 2009. The economic development pro-posal will include three critical elements that go beyond hosting Vikings home games:• A retractable-roof stadium that will give Minnesotans a state-of-the-art venue to be used year-round for high school and amateur sports, trade shows, community and cultural events, as well as national and international happenings.• A Winter Garden light rail train station that will serve as a connect-ing point for the future Central Corridor light rail line and the existing Hiawatha line. This gathering place is integral to the Vikings vision of the overall development and will host indoor/outdoor activities for transit riders, neighborhood residents, downtown workers and stadium attend-ees.• A privately-fi nanced redevelopment of the Downtown East area that will include offi ce buildings, residences, shops and restaurants. This exciting project will create jobs, boost the economy and bring a renewed energy to this area of Minneapolis.

Goal-wise, we wanted to play a clean game. I can’t exactly say it was clean with 10 penalties. Obviously, we need to put a stop to that. We had three the last game and then obviously four in the fi rst series (tonight). You can’t do anything when you’re backing up like that. I thought our defense played fast. I thought they played together. They were able to keep Pittsburgh out of a rhythm, as Pittsburgh’s defense was able to keep us out of a rhythm. We couldn’t extend many drives on third down.

I thought the special teams did a good job covering and pinning people down there with the punt game and (Chris) Kluwe kicking it 48 yards on average. I thought our kickoff team was able to pin them down there. (Pittsburgh) is a good defensive team and has been a pretty good offensive team.

Without rhythm you don’t run the ball. You don’t do much. Their turnover led to seven points for us and our turnover led to three points for them. We just weren’t able to hold them off at the end.

Q: Was there a chance that Tarvaris Jackson was going to play tonight?A: We took him out there and he warmed up before the game. As late as 6:20 (p.m.) I made him come sit down with me and tell me exactly where (he was) at. Because I told you we were going to treat it exactly like a regular season game. I said, ‘What can you do? What can’t you do? What can you do in this game plan and what can’t you do?’ It’s important that you have that honesty. In fact, he could have played. He could have played a certain way with a certain menu of plays and probably would have had to stay in the pocket. That’s not the prudent thing to do. There may be a time when he has to play the game that way. I thought he did a good job in pushing to that. He’ll only get better here as we go on.

Q: Will you try to get Jackson into the game on Thursday?A: I’m not thinking in that regard right now. I’m thinking more of seeing those guys who will be there for that last cut and letting all those guys play together.

Q: How is Robert Ferguson doing?A: He got kicked in the calf on one of those kickoff returns. He had a pretty good block going. I actually happened to be watching him when it happened and he got kicked down the fi eld. (It’s) just painful. It’s a contusion and we’ll just see. He’s limping pretty good right now. We’ll see how he turns up in the morning.

Q: You indicated that Bernard Berrian may play earlier in the week. Was there a setback?A: I didn’t have a good feeling about where he was. He could do some things and he couldn’t do others. He was good on one side and he wasn’t good on the other side. You have to be able to play on both sides of the formation. We weren’t going to put our arm behind our back where we could only run plays one way. That was the biggest reason.

Q: Where are you as far as what you needed to see from your starters?A: I know that that’s what third (preseason) games are for. But there are plenty of people out in this league. Obviously, two weeks from now, nobody will be talking about the third game of the preseason. They’ll be talking about if you’re playing with all your ammo on opening night. I think that’s the overriding sentiment right there. You have to play without those guys. We weren’t able to establish a rhythm without those guys, but that’s no excuse. You still have to be able to do it with the guys who are out there.

Q: Did you like what you saw from Gus Frerotte?A: I thought he did some decent things. I thought he got rushed a couple times and I thought we could have protected him better on a couple of those third downs. He had good pocket presence. Aundrae Allison I thought made some good plays. He obviously had that drop down on the goal line that would have been a good fi rst and goal and the fi rst drive of the second half. But he showed up a little bit, which is a positive.

Q: You weren’t happy with the false starts, but how did you feel the offensive line did blocking and protecting?A: It’s the same old coaches’ thing. I need to look at it and see what type of stacks they were looking at. We do control the snap count. That is one thing that is supposed to be an offensive an advantage and we didn’t use it to our advantage very well.

Q: Is there a specifi c reason Marcus McCauley started over Antoine Winfi eld?A: We originally had it set for McCauley to start the second half. I just wanted to see McCauley get out there and play on short notice. I thought he did some good things. I thought he had a pass defense down there deep that was good. You just want to look at those different combinations. I wanted to see him play with the fi rst line defense in there and I kind of know what standard Antoine is going to give.

Q: What do you make of your defensive line and their pressure in the pocket?A: I think they can be extremely disruptive in both run and pass. That’s defi nitely what you want to see. I saw Kevin Williams show up. I saw Ray Edwards show up. Pat (Williams) I thought, was a force in there in the run game. I don’t know if I saw Jared (Allen) show up, but he was a force in there somewhere.

Q: Artis Hicks got some work at left tackle. Was that sort of the grand plan all along?A: We had a bunch of injuries out in Baltimore. We had planned to get him in there, but we just didn’t have the combinations that we could get to where we could move him out of the left guard possession. Actually, (Anthony) Herrera had to come back in last week, late in the game to play because we didn’t have a viable group in there. We wanted to get (Hicks) left tackle snaps this week?

Are you happy with his progress?A: If memory serves, I think he ran down there and made the fi rst tackle on the fi rst kick, which is a pretty good run. Q: Did you intend to play John David Booty for the rest of the game after Gus Frerotte came out?A: We did. I didn’t know he was going to go in with two minutes to go in the third quarter as luck would have it because Gus was going to play to open the second half. (Pittsburgh) went on an extended drive and you look up and Booty’s fi rst in with (two minutes to go). He was going to play whatever portion Gus didn’t play in the second half.

Q: Where is the third quarterback battle at right now?A: Ongoing. That’s about the best way to declare it. It’s ongoing. You just have to let guys play so they can a little bit of a feel as opposed to a series, pull them out and put somebody else in. Would I have liked to see (Booty) the whole second half?
