Contemplates the choice of different modes of learning and a competency based education. So the students develop their intellectual potential and abilities through learning experiences that are creative and innovative.

FACULTY OF ARTS Founded in 2003 as a School of Arts and formalized as a Faculty in 2012. Currently, it offers five different educational programs at a Bachelor’s Degree distributed in its three branches. Programs offered in Ensenada: Plastic arts Music. Programs offered in Mexicali: Plastic Arts Dance. Audiovisual Media Programs offered in Tijuana: Plastic Arts Theatre The Mission of the Faculty is the development, training, and update of professionals in the Arts Field, taking into consideration the artistic creation as a knowledge and sensible experience generating activity; and will carry out research and promotion of culture as well as spread artistic manifestations. In its Vision, the Faculty is nationally and internationally recognized by its accredited programs and trained academic staff; where the scientific knowledge is developed in the Artistic Teaching Field, Art Critique and Cultural Promotion and Management. Also, the Faculty maintains relations with several cultural institutions, both public and private, that favor the integral development of the students as well as its inclusion in the work field and its development as promotion agents of the sociocultural growth in the region. FACULTY OF LANGUAGES

The Faculty of Languages was first founded under the name of Language Center in 1974. It is one of the oldest institutions in our University. It began its activities with the academic offering of Technical English-Spanish Translator later incorporated the Bachelor’s Degree in English Teaching and Bachelor’s Degree in English Translation, as well as a Core Curriculum in Languages.

It currently offers a Master’s Degree in Modern Languages as a joint-program with the Faculty of Human Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Faculty offers two accredited programs Bachelor’s Degree in Translation of the English Language and Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching of the English Language.

It also offers the following postgraduate programs:

Specialty in Translation and Interpreting,

Master’s Degree in Modern Languages.

Both Programs are registered in the National Quality Postgraduate Census.

The Mission of the Faculty is the development of professionals in the areas of Teaching of Languages and its cultures, as well as the translation, interpreting and connected areas at a Bachelor and Postgraduate level. Its Alumni works with a sense of social responsibility and respect towards the environment, in order to facilitate the communication processes in society that contribute in the regional, national and international developments in accordance with the lineaments of excellence of our University.

FACULTY OF ADMINISTRATIVE AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

The Faculty of Administrative and Social Sciences was founded in 1982 under the name of School of Accounting and Administration. The Faculty offers a variety of educational programs, both part-time and fulltime to meet the necessities of its students.

The educational programs it currently offers are:

Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Sciences;

Bachelor’s Degree in Law;

Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology;

Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology;

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology;

Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences;

FACULTY OF SCIENCES

The Faculty of Sciences was officially founded in 1977 under the name of Biologic Sciences College.

Currently the Faculty offers four Educational programs:

Biology,

Physics,

Computer Sciences,

Applied Mathematics.

The Faculty has expanded its academic offer to include the following degrees:

Master’s degree in Arid Ecosystem Management (the only program of its kind in the country)

Master’s degree and Doctorate in Nanotechnology Sciences and Engineering.

The Faculty provides the student with proper academic and scientific environment with facilities and equipment that favors education and research that enables the possibility to interact with other technical and scientific disciplines that are offered in the campus and other institutions in the vicinity, such as the CICESE and UNAM.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

The Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design was founded in 1983 and since its inception it has developed several educational programs with certified degrees and postgraduate programs.

The Faculty currently offers the following Bachelor programs:

Civil Engineering;

Electronic Engineering;

Computer Engineering;

Industrial Engineering;

Nanotechnology;

Bioengineering;

Architecture.

Since 2004, the Faculty also offers Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Sciences and Engineering related to the Bachelor programs it currently has.

The Faculty seeks to improve the quality of life in the region and the rest of the country, focusing in social, economic, political and cultural development by means of the integral education of professional individuals capable of involving themselves in international scenarios where engineering, architecture and design are a key factor for success, in doing so, they also keep a social and environmental responsibility in high regards. Its Alumni are also made to be capable of critical thinking, idea generation, reflection skills and efficient use of top of the line technologies with ethic values and the development and support of pertinent technological innovation to improve regional needs.

SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The School of Health Sciences was founded in the Ensenada Campus on February of 2006.

The School has an enrollment of 1,144 students in the two programs offered, (both currently under accreditation process) the Nursing Degree and Medic Program.

The Mission of the School is to develop professionals in the health sector capable of working in Biomedical Sciences with social commitment regarding human and ethic needs as well as environmental respect in order to preserve the individual and collective health of the state and the country. Our alumni are also capable of carrying out researches, making full use of the technological resources that are made available for them.

The Vision of, the School of Health Sciences becomes the Faculty of Health Sciences, a wholly integrated division in our University that offers accredited programs that have both national and international recognition, an avant-garde entity capable of developing professionals of excellence in the state.

SCHOOL OF ENOLOGY AND GASTRONOMY The School of Enology and Gastronomy was founded on 2006. Our Bachelor’s Degree in Gastronomy was developed with the University’s philosophy in mind and offers an interesting curriculum that focuses on the development of highly skilled individuals that will carry out their professional activities with a sense of responsibility. This educational program focuses in the acquisition of knowledge in the three competitive areas involved in the culinary world; administration, culinary arts and service. The purpose of this program is that our alumni will implement all of the skills they learnt in their formative years on public or private culinary institutions, where they can carry out activities such as: Proper alimentation, menu innovations, customer service, human resources, purchasing, inventories, accounting, event planning management, The Mission of the School is the establishment of its commitment in a comprehensive development of professionals that carry out their activities under the principles of the University’s values, competency and entrepreneurship. Their worldview will focus on the generation of sensory, emotional and social experiences by creating gastronomical encounters that make use of traditions and a respect of ingredients. The School’s Bachelor’s Degree in Gastronomy is accredited by the Consejo Nacional para la Calidad de la Educación Turística, A.C. (Conaet). The school also offers a Viticulture Course since 2012. MARINE SCIENCE SCHOOL

The Marine Science School was founded in 1960, the first of its kind in Latin-America and the first school of the Ensenada Campus of Universidad Autónoma de Baja California.

Today, the Marine Science School seeks to promote viable alternatives for a sustainable socioeconomic development of the region and the country by actively participating in the education of professional individuals at a bachelor and postgraduate level, as well as the generation and promotion of scientific knowledge regarding oceanography and coastal zones, environmental sciences and management, molecular ecology, aquaculture and biotechnology, as well as its interdependency with human activities.

The School currently offers three bachelor degrees:

Oceanography;

Environmental Sciences;

and Aquaculture Biotechnology.

These programs have been accredited by external institutions as quality educational programs.

The School also offers five different postgraduate programs:

Environmental Management;

Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Coastal Oceanography;

Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Molecular Ecology and Biotechnology.

FACULTY OF SPORTS

Founded in 2003, the Faculty of Sports is the successor of the Department of Physical Activity and Recreation (DADYR), which carried out massive physical activities for the student community with various sports tournaments.

Currently, the Faculty has been awarded as a quality program by the Copares through the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of the Teaching of Physical Activity Culture (Comacaf).

To date, the Faculty offers the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Activity and Sports as well as a Master’s Degree in Physical Activity and School Sports.

In its Mission, the Faculty seeks to develop highly competitive professionals with a profound sense of ethics and social responsibility that operate under a philosophy of proactive attitude towards the challenges faced in the practice and teaching of physical activity and sports, as well as the never-ending mission to reach a healthier society and citizens with a wider sense of human development.

Professionals with the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Activity and Sports will be able to work with organizations in order to promote and develop activities related to physical education, recreation and sports for various social groups to achieve a bigger efficiency in productive activities, social convenience and thus gaining a better quality of life.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND BUSINESS, SAN QUINTIN

The Faculty of Engineering and Business San Quintin was founded in 2006 under the name of School of Engineering (Escuela de Ingeniería). It started its activities with three educational programs;

Agricultural Engineering;

Computer Engineering;

and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration,

And since then it has expanded their programs to include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Master’s Degree in Agronomy Production and Global Market Program (Known as Mapaymeg).

The Mission of this Faculty is the development of competent professionals at a Bachelors level with an excellence of autonomy and goalsetting, capable of implementing their knowledge and problem solving abilities to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the region, the state and the country. Our alumni are socially committed with the economic, political, cultural, social and sustainable development as well as a respect towards the environment.

To date, the Faculty has a net enrollment number of 650 students and 19 full-time professors.

INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The Institute of Education Research and Development began its activities in 1991. The IIDE carries out the following activities:

Ability and Basic Knowledge Tests Design;

Master’s Program in Educational Sciences;

Doctorate Program in Educational Sciences;

Publication of the Electronic Magazine of Educational Research.

Currently, the Institute continues its commitment on the growth of its national and international recognition with its dedication towards the generation, implementation, promotion, circulation and transference of scientific and technological knowledge in matters of Education.

Mission

The IIDE Institute seeks to position itself as an avant-garde academic unit in regards of generation, implementation, promotion, circulation and transference of scientific and technological knowledge in matters of Education, which contributes to the educational development of the University, the State and the Country.

In order to achieve this goal, the Institute carries out researches in the Educational sciences, as well as the development of Research Professionals at a postgraduate level. It also makes relations with other national and international educational communities, and communicates its result in society.

INSTITUTE OF OCEANOGRAPHIC (OCEANOLOGIC?) RESEARCH

The Institute of Oceanographic Research was founded by the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in 1960. The Institute focuses in research topics regarding marine sciences, with a particular interest in the study of coastal zones.

It has four subdivisions; Biology, Physics, Environmental Geosciences and Chemistry. It offers the Masters and Doctorate degree in Coastal Oceanography, Molecular Ecology and Biotechnology, and the Doctorate in Environment and Development, three programs that are registered as part of the National Quality Program Census.

The Institute also edits and publishes a Marine Sciences magazine and coordinates the National Center of Oceanographic Data.

The Mission of the Institute is the generation and spread of knowledge in regards of Marine, Environmental and aquaculture Sciences, as well as their related fields by means of scientific and technological research, with the goal of promoting the conservation and reasonable use of natural resources in the coastal zones in benefit of the society and the environment; as well as promoting the development of high degree professionals in the technological and scientific fields..

To date, the Institute has a national and international recognition with a clear lead in regards of research in some marine sciences fields. Its academic quality is measured with international standards at a Latin-American level regarding research in marine sciences, environmental and coastal zone fields
