BWCCI Standing Committees

VisionTo build a prosperous Bangladesh through

progress and economic empowerment of women.

MissionTo evolve as a national platform for urban and

rural women entrepreneurs with an aim to enhance their contributions in all spheres of life through

attaining sustainable financial strength, recognition in family, society, economic and public life.

BWCCI’s Organizational Structure

   

BWCCI has an Executive Committee entitled as the Board of Directors.

The Board consists of 14 members headed by the President

Board Directors are elected for two years by the general members and given mandate to take and execute decision on behalf of organization.

BWCCI has well-established secretariat with full time dedicated, professional staffs.

BWCCI’s by-laws give the right and authority to the Board of Directors to form committees, as the Board deems necessary.

Each Board after election forms standing committees for the purpose of assisting and advising the Board and the organization in addressing a certain issue that will benefit BWCCI and its Members

The Board selects one of the directors/general members as a Committee Chair/Head. This person acts as the committee’s link with the Board of Directors and with the secretariat.

Each standing committee has 3-5 members. Chair Co-chair Member/Members

Standing committees generally sit for a meeting bi-monthly and present reports to the board.

During the 1st board meeting of the present board (2012-14), 7 standing committees were formed.

Oversees the women entrepreneurship development related activities of the ChamberGuides the advocacy initiatives of the Chamber and coordinate with the policy makersGuides the Chamber on the program policiesOversees the programs/projects and provides necessary strategic

directionsLeads BWCCI’s network & linkage with the development partners and international communitiesCoordinates for international meeting, conference, workshop, training etc.

Oversees the audit and budget processLeads the review of monthly financial statements.Ensures accurate tracking and transparent management of funds as well as internal financial control.Reviews internal organizational policies e.g. Administration,

FAIR COMMITTEEGuides the secretariat on planning for fair

Oversees the effective organization of fairs by the chamber.

Identifies and organize domestic fares for member. Organizes fair preparedness, workshop 2 weeks

before the fair. Disseminate information about all kind of domestic

and international fare.Liaison with EPB and other bodies.

Each Standing Committee is assigned by the Board to ensure an effective execution of organizational strategic plan.

Standing committees are mainly contributing in the following strategic areas: Membership Development Improving member services Reducing reliance on donors Diversification of income resources Talent recognition and grooming/training for leadership development Visibility through local media as well as social media Managing branch network Staffing Strengthening the secretariat
