Introduction
• Windows 8 is a version of Microsoft Windows (an operating system developed by Microsoft) for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, tablets, and home theater PCs.
• Windows 8 was developed before the release of Windows 7 in 2009.
• It was released in three pre-release versions ( from September 2011 to May 2012. The operating system was released to manufacturing on August 1, 2012, and was released for general availability on October 26, 2012.)
Three pre-release versions
• Pre-alphaPre-alpha refers to all activities performed during the software project before testing. • AlphaThe alpha phase of the release life cycle is the first phase to begin software testing.• BetaBeta is the software development phase following alpha.
System requirement for Windows 8
• Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)• Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-
bit)• Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics

Advantages Of Windows 8 (Part 2)
• Simpler Shutdown• Narrator• Helps blind• Faster Searching• Drivers are automatically installed in new
PC and Laptops
Disadvantages of Windows 8
• In many cases you need to use drivers written for Windows 7. This is fine in some cases and not in others.
• Start screen• Lack of start menu• Can't use F8 key to get into Safe mode, but its possible to
enable that.• Lots of random problems pop up, mostly related to the start
screen.• Need to play games in compatibility mode which sometime
don’t work• User needs time to adapt with the OS.
Conclusion
• Windows 8 is definitely a reinvention of the operating system most widely used around the world. The Modern UI interface represents a significant change that makes the traditional Windows PC, a modern hybrid operating system trying to address both laptops, tablets and desktop computers. Indeed very ambitious it is to offer an operating system without compromise to meet all uses, countless of problems will surely arise thus likely to frustrate more than one.
