Christmas 2016
Dear Friends, We celebrate this wonderful encounter of that first Christmas, when on that cold dark night in Bethlehem 2000 years ago, God came to be with us. He came as a child in the manger in need of love and care and Mary and Joseph not only loved Him, but made a place for Him in their hearts and lives. That encounter would trans-form them and so many others who would encounter Him on their journey of life. It was this God who would be with us through the years and we would grow to know, love and depend on. Our own personal encounter with Him continues each day and brings newness and meaning to our lives. This encounter is endless and will bring us to eternity, for He came into our lives and never left us. Over the years we have celebrated this Christmas story, reflecting on its meaning and in prayer and spirit we have always returned to that first Christmas in Bethlehem. For Christmas is a celebration of the encounter with our God. That encounter can be best represented in the intimate love of a child and his parents. The lan-guage of love cannot be described, for it is written in our hearts and the heart of our God. And so once again, we come in 2016 to ponder this gift of the “Encounter” and pray: “Be with us always Lord as we have experienced you in our first encounter and may you continue to be the source of our peace. Amen.” It is wonderful for me to celebrate my first Christmas here among you at Presentation Parish. My Christmas wishes are with you during this holy season and I wish you blessings for the New Year! With God’s Blessings, Fr. Stanley
