How effective is the combination of the main product and the ancillary texts?
This presentation will explain similarity's of the Music Video, Digipak
and the Magazine Advert
The Digipak
The Magazine advert
The Brick wall
• When we created the music video we found out that a lot of our filming was in front of a brick wall, This became our constant theme.
• So we decided that on the Magazine Advert and the Digipak we was also going to use the brick wall.
• So as the background of the magazine advert we lightened the same brick wall.
• For the Digipak we used the same brick wall but darkened it for behind the pictures that were on the Digipak
Our music video
Magazine Advert
Digipak
What is the link between the main product and the ancillary
Thus picture is basically what we used for one of the sides in our digipak, it shows all the band members holding up the pieces of card with the lyrics on.
GuitarAnother picture that is from the media film is this guitar, that is on the Digipak
This is a close up of the guitar, which is in sync to the music when the guitar solo is about to happen
The Ice Cream
This is just a general picture of an ice cream, this is a link because it represents, The 99’s.
We used the picture to symbolize the play on words effect. The band name is called The 99’s so we used the ice cream on the digipak to show the link between the ice cream and the 99’s
The Band
This picture is also taken from the music video, so we thought we would just have a picture of the band members posing on the brick wall for another side to our Digipak.
This image is also showing the type of costume that we are wearing throughout the music video, the kind of indie style.
This is the Two Door Cinema Club and we thought of the band idea from watching how effective this video comes across
The 99’s
This was created in Photoshop, first I got the Digipak photos of my blog, the funny photos and the serious photos, I then had to resize every image so that it was correctly in line and there wasn’t any gaps then I just repeated doing it until I couldn’t see any gaps.
Tom then made the font so it looked indie enough, we chose the red spray behind the font, this relates to the artist Daft Punk with his song Alive
Same Picture As you can see throughout the process of the magazine advert, the Digipak and the music video we have kept the constant type of picture of the lads
There is the lads in the music video This is the magazine
advert where the lads have the cardboard lyrics up
This is a part of the Digipak where this picture has been screen grabbed from the actual music video
