    The production of a very short but intenseelectromagnetic pulse.

    To maximize the lethality of an electromagneticbomb it is necessary to maximize the powercoupled into the target set.

    The first step in maximizing bomb lethality isto maximize the peak power

    For a given bomb size, this is accomplished byusing the most powerful flux compression

    generator (and Vibrator in a HPM bomb) which will fit the weapon size, and by

    maximizing the efficiency of internal powertransfers in the weapon.

    The limitations of electromagnetic weapons aredetermined by weapon implementation andmeans of delivery.

    Weapon implementation will determine theelectromagnetic field strength achievable at agiven radius, and its spectral distribution.

    Means of delivery will constrain the accuracywith which the weapon can be positioned inrelation to the intended target.

    Both constrain lethality.
